White Sox blow-up doll shrine blows up
Posted: Tuesday May 06, 2008 09:37AM ET
White Sox manager Ozzie Guillen curses this city for failing to give the Sox organization proper respect, but he has no problem with the infantile and sexist "shrine" his players erected in their locker room. Designed to help the team break out of its slump, the shrine featured two female blow-up dolls surrounded by ''strategically placed'' baseball bats and was accompanied by a sign that read, ''You've Got To Push,'' Canada's National Post reported. ''A few of the bats were doing naughty things,'' Sun-Times beat writer Joe Cowley wrote in his blog. Apparently one of the dolls was propped up by a bat in its rear end. Whether the lewdness was intentional or not, this was inappropriate. As were the blow-up dolls. Period. Neither Guillen, his players nor anyone else in the Sox organization had attempted to conceal the shrine from reporters before the Sox played the Blue Jays on Sunday

Report Offensive CommentI hate uptights idiots like this reporter. Its their own club house, they can do what they want to do, and they shouldn't have to worry about people like this chick who has no sense of humor.

Report Offensive CommentAnd after reading the whole article this dumb broad sounds even more ridiculous. I quote, "Just so we're clear, had there been any female reporters working Sunday's game -- my understanding is there weren't -- the Sox could have found themselves in legal trouble as a result of the display. It's also possible male reporters were offended by the display." "To think there wasn't a single player man enough to stand up and say, ''This is wrong.''
I'm sure the players' moms, wives, sisters and daughters are really proud of them. Way to go, guys. And just so we're clear, the tired ''boys will be boys'' excuse no longer works."
People like this should be sent to their own perfect little colony where they have no chance of getting offended ever, and we don't have to know about their drivel.

Report Offensive CommentSheesh Ozzie...you cant get better ideas to motivate your team?
I mean hell...you stole this from Major League the movie anyway...
This is not even funny really...its overdone tbh.
Nice attempt, but try again.

Report Offensive Commentoh man if i were one of the players walking into a room like that then i would have cracked up...
but its a room full of men and they say whatever happens in the lockerroom stays in the locker room....so just the fact that the reporters saw it makes it a big deal...agreed...
but its a team full of men...theres no women invovled with that team whatsoever....
i mean come on...when women get together (and call me sexist if you must) all they do is blast men and the whole entire gender thereof..
when men are all around each other they make fun of women and that whole gender...its been like this since the beginning of time just we have blow up dolls to do it for us...
and i mean come on...some women like that sorta stuff....

Report Offensive CommentFire the jack-**** already! He is making a mockery of the franchise
with his bs antics. He is constantly saying or doing things to hurt one group of people after another. From Gays to Women he has always tried to hide behind his accent and pretend he didn't mean to say what he said.
Fire him now. Send a message that this is not acceptable in 2008!

Report Offensive CommentBetter check those dolls for Ozzie's DNA. The way he is, that is probably the only "women" he can get.

Report Offensive CommentWhether you're offended by the "shrine" or not, is this really what a smart manager would do to get his team focused?
And if it worked, what would that say about the team?
It doesn't come across as criminal, but it sure looks stupid.

Report Offensive CommentSlump busters have been in the league forever. I remember Gracie on Jim Rome's show talking about guys rubbing one out with a fat chick to break a slump. That being said, they should have put the shrine in a place reporters wouldn't see it because a feminist **** saw it and is making a mountain out of a mole hill now.

Report Offensive CommentHey, you have to do what you have to do to get these guys out of a slump! Didn't you all see Major League? It worked for them!!! Besides, it's their locker room, they can do whatever the heck they want!! If i was a ball player i'd make my locker the most tasteless, lewd, crass, uncomfortable place for reporters to go to just so that they know they are stepping into my house!
