Bynum to see another specialist

Lakers center Andrew Bynum will have yet another specialist examine his left knee, which has kept him out of action since Jan. 13. The Lakers announced that Bynum will fly to Princeton, N.J., on Wednesday to see orthopedic specialist, Dr. Steven Gecha. A determination on his status for the rest of the season and beyond will be made after Wednesday, though no one around the team has been optimistic about Bynum's situation - at least as far as this season is concerned - for the past couple of weeks.

A Celtics - Lakers Finals matchup just won't be as exciting without Bynum (granted they both win the conference finals).

Only delusional Lakers fans think Bynum will be back this season.
The kid needs to heal.

May 6, 2008  10:49 AM ET

Us Laker fans have already accepted the fact that he won't be back this season. We're handling our business just fine without him. Can you imagine how much better we'll be next year with a healthy Bynum? It's exciting!! We all hold out crazy optimism that he'll somehow magically heal before the finals but every true fan always roots for their players to get healthy.

Maybe we can get one of those creepy hyperbaric chambers they put Nowitski in...on secong thought..never mind...I see now that still didn't help them get past the 1st round.

Regardless to what happens to our budding, superstar center, IT'S STILL LOVELY IN LAKERLAND!!!

May 6, 2008  11:44 AM ET

at this point the lakers are doing fine without bynum..if the lakers can win it all this year, imagine when the kid comes back it will be even lovelier in lakerland

But wait....What happened to all the Jack Holes that don' t think Kobe was MVP without Bynum.

You put any legitimate center with Kobe and the Lakers are unstoppable.

May 6, 2008  12:12 PM ET

Im a lifelong Laker fan, and they are far from unstoppable...

Listen kid take it from someone who didn't take care of his knees when I was younger - try going through the operation for two knee replacements - ain't fun and I'm not that old !!!

May 6, 2008  12:37 PM ET

That's right donny! Eli, are you recovering from a Cinco de Mayo celebration of Coronas & tequila shots? I bet you are as LIFE IS GRAND IN LAKERLAND!!!

May 6, 2008  12:53 PM ET

Lakerland, Lakerland, Lakerland........oh well......I guess it is much better than ......LakerNation!

Raider Nation, Red Sox Nation, Sooner Nation....Nationals Nation............tired of NATION.

Signed, lifelong Laker Freak.

lakers are doing fine for now, but they're really going to miss bynum when odom injures his leg/knee is game 3 vs. utah

May 6, 2008  01:02 PM ET

BE EAZY! COME BACK WHEN UR READY, TURIAF AND THE BOYS ARE DOING FINE...........WE NEED YOU AT FULL STREGNTH!!!!!

May 6, 2008  01:41 PM ET

This guy is trade bait. Isn't this the second time he's been out with an injury? Could look for better role players; DFisher is 33, give Farmar more minutes?

May 6, 2008  02:34 PM ET

they can win it with out him, but it would be nice to get him back HEALTHY.

May 6, 2008  02:40 PM ET

TEXASMADE!!! texasmade!! texasmade! (echo). Where are you? ...are you? you? (echo). Crickets...

May 6, 2008  02:55 PM ET

They are probably better off with Andrew Bynum sitting out until next October instead of inserting him into the lineup in the middle of a playoff series. Then again, he'd probably come off the bench for the rest of the playoffs, that could be scary.

Hey Bynum,

Meet me at the local 24 Hour Fitness for some pick up games.

Greg Oden
