No Bonds offers concerns union
Posted: Wednesday May 07, 2008 04:52AM ET
The Major League Baseball Players Association has expressed concern to the commissioner's office over the lack of offers to Barry Bonds, asking for additional information about the offseason's free-agent market. The union did not go as far as to file a grievance on behalf of the outfielder, 43, who remains unsigned and hasn't received any offers since the San Francisco Giants decided not to re-sign him last year and he became a free agent.

They blackballed Bonds. Freaking MLB and ALL of it's utter greed.....SUCKS. Owners of the Giants....eat Zito, you love him so much - eat him. The majority of the players are doing drugs, and trust me......MLB still does not care. Greed Is Good and alive in MLB.

Report Offensive Commenthe would be a huge distraction. No team needs that.

Report Offensive CommentTurtles,
How big of a distraction is Pettitte, Tejada, and Giambi? The media creates the distraction if you buy into it. Bonds can help MOST team in the AL as a DH if he's anywhere near what he was last season.
He could also help several NL teams as an every day player. Just think about it he was one of the top five feared hitter in the game just last season.

Report Offensive CommentI have heard it all now ..barry cant find a team that will let him play every other night game in the dh position so he has to ***** to the union hoping they will go all bad news bears on the MLB (let him play.. let him play ..let him play).. He jus needs to face the music.. he is 46.. accused of steroid use and being indicted by congress.. gee what team wouldn't want that headache

Report Offensive CommentHow can you blame any team for not signing a self-centered, distraction causing jerk like Barry Bonds?? Whether he can help a team or not, he's scum.....why would anyone want him?
TenRingsSTL | 05/07/08, 09:55 AM
Report Offensive CommentAs strong of a case that anyone can make that B*nds can and should be playing, it really is a non-issue. The fact is that an owner needs to feel like B*nds will be a positive and hire him. It would be less of an issue if MLB was not a monopoly. Players are gauranteed their contracts, but they are not gauranteed to get a contract.
AllStarz | 05/07/08, 10:28 AM
Report Offensive CommentWhy would anyone want him and the media storm that would come with him? He can still hit, but the stuff that comes with him just isn't worth it.

Report Offensive CommentTenRingsSTL,
I understand the PR hit a team would take. Do you believe team owners really care about a guy being a scum or not? Just look at some of the guys on your favorite and I'm sure you can find a player that is less than honorable.
My point is Bonds isn't being keep out of the game because of his abilities and not because of the roids issues then, WHY?
A-Rod has been called self-centered among other things. I can assure the Yankees aren't the only team that would like to have him (if they could afford him).

Report Offensive CommentLucky26,
Can say I totally disagree with you. So if you were assured the media would give Bonds the same non-attention they have given Pettitte, and Tejada you would sign him?

Report Offensive CommentLet's see, what do I want in a ball player. Is he under indictment, check. Does he treat everybody around him like crap, check. Is he fan friendly and willing to work with the community, check. Is he Barry Bonds, nope!

Report Offensive CommentJust because the reasoning does not make sense to some people does not mean there is not a good reason. Most fans hate him, he can't even endorse any products, he is the "Home Rin King"...
It's not just the MLB owners, he is a pariah.
