Rockies talk trade for pitcher

Posted: Wednesday May 07, 2008 06:43AM ET

While they wait for internal options to heal their wounds and fix their mechanics, the Rockies are actively pursuing depth for their rotation, discussing trades with the Reds for Josh Fogg and the Red Sox for Julian Tavarez. The Rockies also have kicked the tires on Oakland's Rich Harden and Joe Blanton and Texas' Kevin Millwood. Harden is hurt, limiting interest; Blanton is currently not available. And while the Rangers will listen on Millwood, they want the right players in return, not salary relief.

It's Not!

Bring in Julian - I would love to see the Astros get him so mad again, where he punches something and breaks his hand.

Yes.

PLEASE take Josh Fogg back.

Tavarez was good the first time he was here in CO. Fogg's the dragon slayer. Harden is nasty, but he gets hurt after about 1 start every year, and that's in a good year. Millwood's over the hill. Fogg or Tavarez. Anything would be better than what's goin on right now outside of Cookie.

Blanton's not going anywhere..., neither is Harden until he is 100% (and for the sake of my fantasy league team, hope it's soon!) I would like to see Fogg back in Denver..., Colorado's gotta do something.

Report Offensive Comment

Are you Colorado folks aware of how mind-bogglingly awful Josh Fogg has been so far in Cincinnati?

Maybe this was one pitcher who had so tailored his pitching to work in that thin mile-high air that it doesn't work for him anymore close to sea-level.

Joe Blanton is the caucasion Bartolo Colon

Report Offensive Comment

I would love to have the slayer back

You can take Fogg for free. Talk about a waste of a roster spot. The Reds need more pitching depth. I trust Volquez, Harang, and Cueto, but Arroyo and Fogg are crap. Hopefully Homer Bailey can make a difference this summer, but this team needs some depth.

Josh Fogg was a key contributor to the Rox winning the NL last year. I'd love to see him leading a come from behind push again in '08. It doesn't have to be for free. The Reds can have Mark Redman.

Report Offensive Comment

Yes we'll give Mark Redman in a trade with the local Little League squad... Redman is brutally bad! Get him outta the rotation Hurdle. We need to make a move and hope for (1) Hirsh to come back in June and stay healthy or (2) De La Russa/ Jimenez to turn the switch "on" ! Rocks gotta do something, a win every 5 games with Cookie Monster will not cut it.

Report Offensive Comment

You may not have Julien Tavarez unless Matt Holiday is part of the trade - AND I MEAN IT !!!

Report Offensive Comment

How bad is your team's pitching when you're talking about acquiring Josh Fogg as an upgrade? And this team was in the World Series last year.

Report Offensive Comment

How bad is your team that they have to play in Cincinnati? The Reds might get on ESPN now and then if they had a daily arrest like the Bengals.

Report Offensive Comment

Take Fogg back! Just give the Reds someone, ANYONE, that can hit the damn ball when someone is in scoring position.

Report Offensive Comment

Denny Neagle said he would come out of retirement to pitch for the Rox again.

Report Offensive Comment

Unfortunately jaredev, we don't actually have anybody like that either.

wtnelson- What are you talking about? We just gave you Juan Castro. Now we're even!
