Why EliteXC banned Affliction

EliteXC recently decided that Affliction will no longer be an approved sponsor for its fighters, and a company executive said its simply a matter of the clothing company getting involved in the fight-promotion business. EliteXC Vice President Jared Shaw told MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) that the Affliction ban went into effect as soon as Affliction began organizing its first MMA show, but he says the company otherwise doesn't really interfere with fighter sponsorships. "We don't really bar anyone," Shaw said. "We don't want to interfere with the fighters but this isn't a clothing company anymore. They're competition, and it just doesn't make much sense to help promote the competition."

Maybe someone can explain this to me. I have no idea why this is important, what it has to do with sports, and what EliteXC or Affliction is.

Here are some answers:
1. EliteXC is and MMA fighting league
2.Affliction is a clothing company that sponsors some fightrers, and sells t-shirts to dbags who want to be fighters.
3.Since Affliction is holding a match, it becomes competition inside of an outside sponsor for EliteXC, like if you fought for one promoter and wore another promoter's name on your shirt...

Make sense? To sum it up Dbags doing Dbag type of things...

Interesting...

So, basically, what I deduce from your explaination is that we have a bit of a slow news day in the ol' MMA.

MMA is the cornies thing out. If I wanted to watch what they do Id go to a high school wrestling match or go watch a bar room brawl. Im so sick of seeing all these corny losers in their 5 sizes to small affliction t-shirts anyways. Just cause you slap a 10 year olds t shirt on to look tough doesn't make it so. Nice pic Chuck, you and your boyfriend go do some glamour shots or something

It's actually a very smart business. Like the man who invented the thong, he found a way to use less material in his product and still market it as "fashion". This guy just figured to call a small a large and so on, as well as cutting out the extra manufacturing costs of Sleeves. And just when I thought getting a tribal tattoo wasn't gonna get me chicks anymore. What I'd like to know is how they make their hats with the bill on the side like that. All I can find are ones with the bill up front. This is quite similar to Stone Cold Steve Austin's revival of the infamous Jorts.

Domdawg, if you don't like it, then why are you wasting your time on the MMA page? I'm sure you could find something to do with your valuable time I'm pretty sure no one here cares to hear your ignorant comments here. I promise you wouldn't make that comment to Chuck's face, and if you have seen him at any of the MMA events he is always with a hot chick. Tell your mom the basement is dirty and it's time for her to clean it for you and ask her when dinner is.

uh oh I think Domdawg made fun of Jason's boyfriend, way to be a tough guy, on the internet no less, just a hunch but you probably own a couple Affliction tee's in size smedium huh?!

May 9, 2008  01:55 PM ET

No 84, I don't own any affliction shirts. I'm not the one talking trash about someone on the internet. I respect Chuck as a fighter and honetly respect any of these guys willing to get in the cage and fight. Sounds to me like you got upset I called out Domdawg. I'm sure he can speak for himself and doesn't need a **** like you speaking for him.

???Domdawg 9000..... I have never seen someone like one of these guys fight in a bar. These guys work harder on a daily basis in training than most professional athletes. I have seen articles where doctors that have worked with NFL, NBA, boxers etc have said MMA fighters are by far the best athlete.

Read SI's article on MMA from last year (the one Roger Huerta was on the cover of) It says approx 80% of the UFC fighters have a college degree. They give the idiots in collge basketball and football free rides through college and most of those idiots cannot even graduate and take a bunch of gym classes and garbage like that.

what does **** mean? Dont take yourself to seriously! Recess is almost over. You going keep trying to bully people over the internet tough guy?

May 10, 2008  05:32 PM ET

I'm not bullying anyone. You're the one talking trash.
