Yankees regret A-Rod call

Privately, the Yankees admit they incorrectly handled Alex Rodriguez's initial quad strain. He suffered the injury on April 20 in Baltimore and soon after left the team to be with his wife in Miami for the birth of their second child. Because the club was on the road in Cleveland and because Rodriguez has an iron man history, the Yanks allowed Rodriguez to talk his way back into the lineup without an MRI exam on April 25. Club officials have told The Post they regret that decision.

that sucks that he is the a multi million dollar man and you would think they would take precautions. That says a lot about that organization

Yeah, that pretty much proves that the Yankees are Satan's evil messengers. Great insight.

I think I speak for all Yankee fans in officially switching my loyalty to the Hiroshima Carp.

Go ahead, unroll that tarp!
We're here to cheer for the noble Carp!

Yeah, I could get used to this.

I read the entire article, of course lefty's are killing them. But it's not just the lefty's who are killing the yankees, it's the manager making bad decisions on the field and the GM making other mistakes off the field. They had better start managing in the right direction. Two heads are better than one, but Cashman no longer has Torre's experience to fall back on. So they saved a few million by not bring Torre back, We certainly didn't see see Giambi giving back any money for his performance so far, (under 200 BA) But of course the union would not allow that, merrit pay. Bad decisions all around...

Great reply to an ignorant hating comment..........GO CARP

Yankeefan64 is the classic bandwagon fan. Wow, what a surprise....also a Dallas Cowboys fan! Let me guess....you like Notre Dame football as well. Comments from bandwagon fans are meaningless and fall on deaf ears. Real fans root for all of the teams from where you are from......get lost.

Thank you, my friends. Alfred has been exposed as the idiot he works so hard to be.

And becca, your sympathy and $9 would get me a half double decaf soy latte with foamed milk at my local Starbucks. Thanks much!

Yankee64- no worries we are all fluent in sarcasm unlike Alfred. Yankees def rushed Arod back out there but they were already without Posada and the rest of the line up wasn't hitting all that well aside from Matsui and Melky so they took a gamble to try to get his bat in there and it backfired. Lucky for them it is early in the season and not later. Then again maybe it wouldn't be so bad if Arod got injured around late September early October lol.

May 8, 2008  09:57 AM ET

bcolt, you're right...a late season injury is MUCH better.

Imagine where we'd be right now if A-Rod had an April '08 anything like his April '09. Man. Let's hope he comes back with a vengeance. As we learned last night, even a great pitching performance is a waste if you can't score.

It is not just the A-Rod injury, though the Yanks do miss his bat in the lineup, as they miss Posada's as well. Beyond that Cano needs to come around, Girardi needs to improve, i have faith in him too, and there are the young pitchers, that is a whole other discussion, but that includes Joba who they are experimenting with in his pitch selection and approach. They are just a bit behind where they need to be, not much, but that is an optimistic outlook, i think it is accurate, but I am a fan.

May 8, 2008  10:05 AM ET

Yes, Becca. According to my sources in the future, he had an OUTSTANDING '09. In fact, President Obama called him "America's MVP."

I don't think GIrardi's made any major gaffes, but then again I don't think any MLB manager has a lot to do with whether his teams win or lose.

We're just not hitting...we've scored 5 runs in an inning ONCE this year, while we did it 31 times last year. We came back in late innings 40-something times last year, and not once this year. And we're scoring about two runs/game less than last year.

That ain't the manager. That's the bats, kids.
