D'Antoni talking to Bulls & Knicks
Posted: Thursday May 08, 2008 06:13AM ET
Warren LeGarie, the agent for Mike D'Antoni, told The Post yesterday the Knicks are still in the picture for the Suns coach, and tried to quash the belief the Bulls are clear frontrunners. LeGarie planned to meet with Knick president Donnie Walsh today in New York after flying in from Greece. The Bulls are believed to be D'Antoni's top choice, all things equal, but LeGarie disputed the theory D'Antoni is not a good fit with the Knicks' defense-less, plodding cast.

The Bulls have the clear upper hand over the Knicks in terms of landing D'Antoni. However, it also looks as if the Bulls prefer Avery Johnson, which clouds the picture in terms of D'Antoni ending up there.
Of course, D'Antoni's agent needs to publish statements that indicate that both the Knicks and the Bulls are viable options, simply as a means of PR until a final decision is made. After all, there is still a slight chance that D'Antoni may end up in NY, and the agent needs to keep all possibilities open.

Report Offensive Commentwhy in god's name would the knicks hire a no defense, pampers his favorites coach to babysit the current bunch of lazy non-motivated losers? If he couldn't keep Matrix and Amare in line wait until he gets a day of life w/ Curry and Marbury

Report Offensive CommentI would not assume D'A has only one way of playing, he's never coached anywhere else in the NBA......he has won ALOT & deserves a break from lumping him into the Don Nelson gunner philosophy- until we see what he does with his next team.
If his next team is a carbon-copy of Phoenix- then so be it- he'll do awesome in the regular season and then lose in the playoffs

Right on point! Why would anyone want to be the engineer on a run-a-way train. The only reason an experienced coach would take this job is money. That shouldn't be a problem with D'Antoni. Why would he accept a job he can't be successful at?

Report Offensive CommentI think the Buls are a much better choice. NY is just too much of a mess.

Don't they already have a coach who has been part of a team that has won several rings in the past ten years?

Report Offensive CommentWho PJ? He's just an X and O's assistant coach and should have never been allowed to lead a team. Could he replace Pop?

Report Offensive CommentThe stupidest thing ever done by the Suns was getting rid of Kurt Thomas. If they had just kept him, and had Marion to use as a defensive stopper, and kept Eddie House to nail 3-pointers, they would have beat San Antonio! There are a lot of hand me down coaches looking for a job - Dantoni is as good as any of them. Get rid of whoever thought up letting Thomas go.

Report Offensive CommentDoes anyone every check out D'Antoni's clothes - his ties in particular?
This man has some of the best threads I've seen.
His ties, in particular, are incredibly fashionable.
I wish I knew what brand his ties are. Probably some special Italian brand.

Carlesimo Sucks. The Sonics don't have the players nor the experience to play as the Spurs.
They are young and athletic. And what do you do with that? Run and gun, not a half court offense like the Spurs.

Report Offensive CommentI always wanted Carlisle to coach the Sonics. He's at least a good (maybe too good) fit for the team.
The only thing Carlesimo did well this season is get the team an other top-3 pick in the draft (and I hope they draft that young point guard everybody is talking about).
