A video clip shows Charlie Weis has taken a shot at Michigan in a speech sometime around the Blue and Gold scrimmage last month. Weis made a speech to fans and claimed the Wolverines would make excuses about their new coaching regime under Rich Rodriguez. "I always been one to never make excuses and not go about airing it," Weis said. "We're going to start on September 6 with San Diego State. I think that the first opportunity we're really gonna have to make a statement is that day. "And then we'll listen to Michigan have all their excuses as they come running in and saying how they have a new coaching staff and there's changes. To hell with Michigan!" Notre Dame plays Michigan in its second game, Sept. 13 at South Bend.

Way to go, Charlie Boy! Fire ye troops up.

May 8, 2008  08:16 AM ET

His favorite buffet just north across the Michigan border shut their doors, as they finally realized the reason for Michigan's struggling economy... Charlie Weis' appetite.

Way to not let the intensity down after your surprising national championship bid last year...

"I always been one to never make excuses and not go about airing it," Weis said.

Pickle boy will be happy to see that last year wasn't his fault...

May 8, 2008  08:23 AM ET

Excuses? What the hell is Weis's excuse for his miserable performance over his tenature at the "Golden Dome" U? He better be more concerned about his short comings as a Coach. Got news for ya Charlie ol' buddy, even with the change at Michigan you still going to lose. Time for you to head back to the Pro's and polish your rings. Bo said it best when ask about his thoughts about ND joining the Big-10 "we don't need them"! If this is his way of motivating the troops, he's already lost most of his games for the "08" season! We will see what comes out of your mouth as Michigan post a win in South Bend!

May 8, 2008  08:33 AM ET

Charlie Weis is a fat overrated blowhard that's accomplished nothing during his tenure at Notre Dame, that being said, this is nothing more than the usual Coachspeak you probably hear at every practice.

Fat boy can prove it by getting his team ready to win the game, or it will just be another season of excuses by ND supporters wishing for that next great recruiting class.

May 8, 2008  08:37 AM ET

It will be nice when Charlie Weis actually makes news for winning important games at ND, because the last time I checked, he hasn't had a signature win.

May 8, 2008  08:48 AM ET

yea, what was the combined record of these two teams last year?

May 8, 2008  09:12 AM ET

Ahmen Charlie!

May 8, 2008  09:13 AM ET

He should worry about Navy first, before Michigan. Don't get the cart before the horse Charlie.

May 8, 2008  09:14 AM ET

Charlie how dare you insult Hell like

Charlie How dare you insult Hell like that!
(sorry guys hit the enter button too soon)

May 8, 2008  09:23 AM ET

Like usual by our beloved media, the conversation was taken out of context. He was responding to questions about the Michigan game when they first have to play San Diego State. "To Hell with Michigan", was followed by, "what we first need to do is prepare for San Diego State."

May 8, 2008  09:35 AM ET

San Diego State first, Michigan secong: Irish 0-2

May 8, 2008  09:35 AM ET

Well, Michigan beat Florida last year in their bowl game. Notre Dame won 3 games all year and was lucky to do that. Considering the beatings Michigan has given ND since Weis arrived, he probably does want them to go to he**. Anywhere but on the same football field as the Irish. Weis is overrated. This so called "offensive genius" led his NCAA team to the worst ranked offense in the nation last year. NICE!!

May 8, 2008  09:36 AM ET

SAROLLS, Worry about Navy before Michigan? I know you guys are all trying to throw out one-liners here to make yourselves look smarter than whoever each story is talking about, it's quite entertaining really, and a little sad, but he should not worry about Navy before Michigan. I dont care if they lost to Navy last year, you prepare for your opponents as they come in order. San Diego State, then Michigan. Stop trying to be smarter than everyone else, especially if you're bad at it.

May 8, 2008  09:36 AM ET

San Diego State first, Michigan secong: Irish 0-2

Of course I meant "second." I wasn't smart enough to actually attend U-M, but I was smart enough NOT to attend OSU.

May 8, 2008  09:37 AM ET

Dude, you one 2 games last year and they beat Florida in a bowl game. Please save yourself the shame and just just shut up about better football teams, at least you can still rip on Minnesota.

May 8, 2008  09:38 AM ET

And dont be pathetic TGRFAN1, who i assume is a Michigan fan, because San Diego State-Notre Dame will not be Appalachia State-Michigan. And don't be so confident in your team, one of the "experts" who follows Michigan football closely came onto an ND talk show to talk about Michigan's spring game and said it was less than underwhelming. Yikes, that walk-on quarterback had better be good.
