League's next big star will be in Dallas

Posted: Friday May 09, 2008 07:49AM ET

Free agent winger Fabian Brunnstrom is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Stars as soon as today, according to his agent, J.P. Barry. Brunnstrom, 23, has been pursued by about 20 teams after making the decision to come to the NHL. Barry said Brunnstrom picked the Stars because of his respect for the organization and because of the opportunity to play quickly.

It's Not!

Leafs post season record is now, 0 for 4
No Burke
No Wilson
No Holland
No Brunnstom-Still not sure this is a great loss though.
But who's keeping score.

Good pick up.

Boring...........

On another front. Once again the game officials ruined what could have been a good hockey game and they did it in under 10 minutes of the 1st period.
One offside, that wasn't
One penalty that shouldn't have been, putting Dallas down 2 men.
An illeagal face off immediatly following the 5 on 3 disadvantage that resulted in a goal.
One icing that wasn't.
A couple of phantom penalties to both teams.
One goal that should have been disallowed.
The Red Wings are good enough not to have the Refs deciding the games and screwing up the game's tempo.
I don't care about the Stars not winning this series. But they got ripped off last night and so did the fans that were waiting for a good game to watch!

I have a funny feeling about this guy....

So much press for a guy who hasn't played a lick against the best in the world. I thik this guy may be a tad overrated when it is all said and done.

Title: "League's next big star will be in Dallas."

Question: Isn't that assuming too much? Who is this guy? Another Matts Sundin? And, if he is sooooo good, how come he's not playing for the Sweedish National Team? You'd think that he'd want to put his abilities on display on the world stage! Me thinks maybe he ain't good enough to even play for Sweeden.

One thing I know for sure: If Dallas plays another c*ra*ppy like they did last night, this series will be over before it starts.

Report Offensive Comment

I don't know about the leagues next big star. For someone who turned down the WIngs and the Canadiens because they said he'd have to earn his playing time. It's makes you take a step back!

Report Offensive Comment

Tha's suppossed to read, "another c*a*ppy GAME." But I think all of you are smart enough to have figured it out all by yourselves. LOL!

Report Offensive Comment

I agree with Willy77, if he's that good, playing time shouldn't be an issue, right?

Report Offensive Comment

Finally...I've had enough of hearing about a guy who hasn't played 1 second of NHL ice time and who hasn't exactly put up sparkling numbers in the Swedish leagues.

If he comes in and does well in the NHL...super...I'll be wrong....blah blah...but enough already.

Report Offensive Comment

All this hype for a guy who played for Sweden internationally is baseless. Plus, his stats aren't exactly heralding the next Zetterberg. While it would have been nice to see him develop in the Red Wings organization, I'd rather they throw money at somebody that can actually improve the team, much less hockey's Mike Mamula.

I am sure he would rather be with all the smelly, gold chain wearing, chest hair sticking out, low life **** in Philly

Report Offensive Comment

I'm just saying. That's going to be a large switch from the homeland. And please, don't try to start a battle between the north and south, I believe that issue was already addressed, and we came out on top.

When I got home it was 4-1 and the refs appeared to give the Stars a make-up call. Too little too late, though. Was the officiating that bad?

Detroit, like Pittsburgh doesn't need all the help it can get to win a series.

it would appear that the saying is right - Don't mess with Texas! - F inth A will lose his mind!

Brunnstrom is not lining up to be as goos as advertised, if you ask me, based on the exact same thing already said by a few guys here. He couldn't make the Swedish World Championship team, his numbers aren't brilliant in a lower tiered league, and he chose his team based on assurances of ice time. He didn't think he could crack the Wings' lineup. Hmm. Choosing a teambased on how sure you are of making the squa doesn't necessarily show that you have a ton of confidence in your abilities, does it?
