07:52 AM ET 05.09 | Shaun Alexander has returned home to Seattle following two free-agent visits this week, first to Cincinnati on Sunday and Monday and then to New Orleans on Wednesday. Jim Steiner, Alexander's agent, said he expected to be in contact with the Bengals today. Alexander, who grew up in Florence and was the league MVP in 2005, was released April 22 after eight seasons with the Seahawks. The Bengals have a glut of running backs but are believed to be interested in Alexander as a possible backup to starter Rudi Johnson.

if the bengals sign him, there will be a solid rb released, probably DeDe Dorsey. hoping they bring shaun home, as long as he understands he's not the starter and he wont be getting a brinks truck deal.
dont sign if you plan on screaming about not starting by week 3 or money. but otherwise, welcome home.

Shaun Alexander is soft. I feel for the team who signs him to find this out first hand.

He should come to Houston and join the "over the hill gang" that the Texans have.

Don't waste your time or money with this guy. Stick a fork in Alexander....he's done

I agree Packers4. He is fragile and not worth the trouble. His time has come and gone. The Bungles have Rudi Johnson. Why bring in Alexander? He'll just sprain his ankle and be inactive for 6 weeks after his first carry.

Shaun could be a great asset to the Bengals with Rudi as Starter and using him in short yardage situations....but don't forget about chris perry, a star in the making just needs to stay healthy

Dorsey is a pretty good back, esp. catching the ball out of the backfield (something Rudi doesn't excel at). He probably won't be released.
I just wish we had health at this position, as we've invested 1st/2nd rounders (i.e. Perry, Irons).

ds199, yeah dorsey really improved under Anderson's guidance. But who do you release to make a spot for Shaun. Watson, Mr Durability. Perry, who has all the talent in the world, but a fragile body. Kenny Iron who they hoped was Perry's or Watson's replacement until he went down. Or the newer guy to the team that possibly might still be available on waivers if Perry, Irons, or Alexander go down within the first month.

haha pw must have access to the twin cities' police reports.
Florida State still has the worst rep for football players. 36 players suspended for one game.
It'll be interesting to see the starting lineups for the Bengals' skill positions next year. I believe with a quarterback like #9, a great system that Cincy employs (no huddle), and well-coached players, our offense will prosper. We drafted 3 wideouts, signed a couple more CFAs, and picked up a young prospect that Seattle waived. To complement our passing game, we've got a (relatively) young line and a good mix at RB. Health will be an issue, as always, but I believe that Cincy can be a top 5 Offense.
Thoughts?

I'm just remembering how fearful the Seahawks were of paying this guy because they had a feeling he'd stop producing after he got the money.....and he did. Julius Jones is going to be a massive upgrade for them.

We need to keep seperate tackling statistics on Alexander
How many times a defender tackled him...and how many times the grass tackled him.
Shouldnt the Bengals be more worried about fixing their defense??
I couldnt take being one of their fans..no offense.. it's like you've known whats wrong with your team the past 5 years but you barely do anything about it!
