Wie plans to join LPGA in '09

For those of you who thought maybe you'd seen the end of Michelle Wie's golf career, think again. Wie, the 18-year-old who struggled through poor play and injuries in 2007, is playing in the Michelob Ultra Open this week. And in her pre-tournament press conferences, Wie confirmed she still has plans to join the LPGA full time in 2009.

It's Not!

At the risk of sounding stupid - yeah, I know a lot of you already think I'm stupid - can a female golfer just up and join the LPGA? Don't the women have to go through a qualifiying ritual similiar to the men - Q-School, Futures Tour, etc?

This charlatan hasn't won so much as a major amateur tournament, and she's planning on "joining" the LPGA!

She'll probably join the LPGA through a sponsor's exemption.

You're partially right.

Just like the PGA the LPGA has a Q-School and a Futures Tour that's the equivalent of the PGA's Nike Tour.

I did a little research and found out this is how Wie is hoping to pull it off.

Wie is planning is to use her alloted six exemptions to play in LPGA events, win enough money in those tournaments to finish the equivalent of 90th or better on the money list, and thereby earn a Tour card for 2009 without having to go to Q-School.

Uh, given the way she has been playing she's destined for Q-School.

There are exactly four people in the world who care. The clown that runs Nike, her parents and David-I belong in prison-Leadbetter.

She missed the cut by 4 strokes this week. Maybe she and Ty Tryon should get together have a kid...maybe that kid would have a chance to be a good pro golfer.
