Tavarez hears Rockies trade rumors
Posted: Friday May 09, 2008 07:58AM ET
Julian Tavarez remained with the Red Sox yesterday, which is fine with him. "Whatever I get, I'll take it," said the reliever, who pitched in his first game since April 24 last night against the Tigers. No advancements in trade talks regarding Tavarez were made yesterday between the Red Sox and Colorado Rockies. The Rockies remain interested in acquiring the 34-year-old to help their struggling rotation.

Money is money.. no matter who you play for... most could care less where they are now as long as the money keeps rolling in...

Report Offensive CommentTavares is an underrated player. he can start, long relieve and is a good guy to have in the clubhouse. If I am the Red Sox I don't just give the guy away.

Report Offensive CommentI would be sorry to see Taverez go,...... he might not be the greatest pitcher, but he afforded the red sox rotation with some versatility,....... and he's a nice guy

Report Offensive CommentLove Tavares - he's been great for the Red Sox. He grew up in a house with no floors, hasn't had a single day of formal education and has made it to the major leagues. He's done well for himself and his family. He's never complained about his roll with the Sox and he's a competitor. Do not want to lose him for some short-sighted deal.

Report Offensive CommentRockies need to trade a guy or two for pitching help. After surprisingly making it to the World Series, they stood pat rather than trying to upgrade their team. Bad move.

Report Offensive CommentTarverez has recently gotten a little wild this year. He pitches with an open shoulder so the ball moves left to right, and he misses. Rockies may get him, if he has no medical problems, could be a good pick up, after the P/coach teaches him how to remain closed during the delivery. But if the Sox have been trying to coach him with this same reminder, and still no, then maybe it's time to dump him...
