Ray Lewis sidestepped questions about his future with the Ravens today, saying he is focused on team issues and not individual ones. The nine-time Pro Bowl middle linebacker is entering the final year of his contract and could become a free agent for the first time in his career. Lewis and the Ravens are negotiating an extension, but the sides are not believed to be close.

Aren't murders and thugs (Lewis is both) supposed to finish their careers with the Raiders?

May 10, 2008  09:32 AM ET

Why are the Ravens discussing a contract extension with Lewis? How old is he, 90?

Ray Lewis is still a very good football player and the ravens need to make shore that they get the contract done.

May 10, 2008  10:09 AM ET

Too bad that being a good football player doesn't translate to being a decent person.

Wait, Ray Lewis isn't in jail? When did he get out? Oh yeah, he was aquitted. "I said, Dog! Come on, Dog!"

Lewis is a piece of **** that managed to get rich by playing football. The only difference between him and a bag of **** is the bag.

In the old days yes, now it's just a place where players go to die. The Cowboys in where all the murderers and thugs go these days and the Cowboys welcome them with open arms.

Ozzie Newsome is one of the better GMs in the game, he's going to make a smart decision based on the good of the team, not the irrelevent concept of showing respect to a player by grossly overpaying him.

If the Ravens have shown anything in the past few years, it's been the amazing ability to re-stock high-end defensive players through the later rounds of the draft, they aren't going to give Ray Lewis top-five defensive player money to get beaten out by a second year player.

Let this chest pounding convict go. He's shown no loyalty to the City of Balt.

LOL?

I mean if playing for one team your whole career isn't loyalty, what the hell is?

I would love for the Ravens to re-sign Ray The Blade to nice fat contract extension. He's old and slow and can't get off blocks. Plus, what would B'more fans do without the Ray-Ray Chicken Dance at the beginning of games??? That has to be getting a little embarrassing at this point. Watching the Ravens waste the cap space would make my day, but unfortunatly, Ozzie is not that stupid. They could always trot out the mascot in a 52 jersey to do the dance at home games, I don't think the Baltimorons would know the difference.

There are plenty of bad people in the world. No shortage of murderers. There are only a select few, however, who can rack up 100 tackles a season well into their later thirties. Ever since the turn of the millennium he seems to have been keeping himself pretty clean, so I'm not sure what the big deal is unless you're directly related to those he allegedly murdered. If its an issue with whether he can still play football with dentures and a cane, that's a separate argument

He should stay there and do it big... Pay that man his dues!!!
