Reinsdorf to meet with D'Antoni
Posted: Saturday May 10, 2008 08:50AM ET
The Bulls are considering hiring Mike D'Antoni strongly enough that club Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf, who owns a home in the Phoenix area, will meet with the Suns' coach this weekend, sources said. General manager John Paxson spent parts of Sunday and Monday interviewing D'Antoni in Phoenix. On Friday, Paxson gathered background on coaching candidates for other possible interviews while still contemplating the good and bad D'Antoni presents.

Report Offensive CommentSorry Jerry, but I don't think D'Antoni will work for minimum wage. Look for him to coach for the Knicks instead despite the Bulls job being more attractive in all ways not financial,

Report Offensive CommentAlas, it is too late! :(
Mike D'Antoni has been lured to the Dark Side. The Knicks succeeded in sinking their claws into him.
Shame on you, Paxson, for sitting around and letting this coach get away. You failed to act quickly enough, and now your opportunity is gone.

Report Offensive CommentAnother botched management job by Paxson, who's now complaining to the press that he didn't have a chance to negotiate. It seems that Paxson's cred with Reinsdorf has evaporated the fact that the Bulls still have to pay Skiles for two years. Reinsdorf didn't want to fork out serious money to get D'Antoni. Really, though, D'Antoni was the savior for the Bulls? I don't think so. They need someone who can teach defense, since the Bulls players don't seem to know what that is.

Report Offensive CommentD'Antoni woul have made the Bulls more exciting, but D'Antoni's style will never never ever win a championship.
You have to play at least decent defense to be able to win in the playoffs and D'Antoni has no interest in his team playing D at all. Which is why he will never be a championship level coach.
I'd go with Avery or Thibodeau if I was Paxson. Cause if your D is tight, you will at least be a .500 team at worst...
