The Mavericks finally got their man. Rick Carlisle reached an agreement in principle with the Mavericks on a four-year contract Friday night to become the ninth coach in franchise history, sources from both sides confirmed. It is believed Carlisle's salary will be similar to what Johnson was being paid before he was fired, roughly $4 million per season. Because of numerous commitments by all parties, the news conference on Carlisle's hiring probably won't come until Wednesday.

Couldn't have picked a much better candidate other than keeping Avery. :) I hope the Mavs bring in some young blood and fill the 5 spot. If we have to see Dirk try to carry the team another year with high expectations and low results from the rest of the team then who knows if Dirk will still be here. Some say we should trade Dirk now but I think he is the one piece you dont' trade.

whoever conceives the idea of trading dirk must be smoking crack.....god knows mark cuban already fu**** the roster by trading away there youth in devin harris and a fairly good center in desagna diop.....

Eventually, the Mavericks won't have to think of trading Dirk Nowitzki. He's gonna get tired of being on a losing team and head on down the road when he's a free agent.

all dirk needs is some real all-star help....we need to pick up an all-star player, a deal similar in comparison to what the lakers did for kobe, they got him pau gasol.......dirk just needs an all-star buddy on our team and we should be ok....i think we should rid of jason kid and perhaps josh howard to get him one....

Carlisle from the Pacers to the Mavericks is funny.
First he goes from a team where players are screw-ups OFF the court, but where the team does okay because it's in a weak conference, to a team where players are wimps ON the court, and the team chokes in the playoffs because it's in an ultra-competitive conference.
Hehehe.

Cuban is seriously aging. It's all that shouting.

Looks as if the Lakers are having a little trouble with the Jazz.

Does it matter who coaches the Mavs? Next year it will be the same, 1 and done. That is if they even make the playoffs.
