Jacques Lemaire was upbeat, laughing as he talked on the phone. He was practically buoyant. Is it a sign? Lemaire laughed, again. "You'll find out tomorrow,'' he said Friday afternoon. "There will be an announcement.'' Today, for sure, we'll know whether Lemaire will be back to coach the Wild for an eighth season. Doug Risebrough, the team's president and general manager, is expected to announce Lemaire's future today. On Friday, neither was willing to say what that announcement would hold.

He gone!

May 10, 2008  10:46 AM ET

Ron MacLean broke this news during the game yesterday, saying that Lemaire would be back...

May 10, 2008  10:59 AM ET

I heard he is coming back too Gocan, so this story is a little late. But I'm surprized you heard that. When did Sudbury get cable?

May 10, 2008  11:26 AM ET

It was a package deal with running water - making our outhouses obsolete in the process - back in 2005. It was a real victory for us Sudburians I can tell you that much

However, CBC isn't only on cable, the ol' rabbit ears got us through many a few Hockey Nights, I can tell you that much!

May 10, 2008  12:29 PM ET

No more outhouses GoCan?
That stinks. Just another fine old tradition gone by the wayside. I'd forgotten about those rabbit ears too & Bostongm is too wet behind the ears to know what they even were. So when do you predict that the Pony Express will have to finally step aside out there so you will get your news faster?
Something I think you should know though...The NHL expanded in 1967 and we now call those 6 teams...the original 6. There are actually 30 teams now so if you like, you can select a new team to route for over the Red Wings. Even a few more in Canada in fact. Just because I know that is where your hockey heart truly is. I felt it important to bring this matter to your attention in True GoCan fashion with a lengthly prose. :)

Re: "That stinks." comment.

Yeah, it does, but not quite as much as the ol' outhouse used to. That's the price of progress for you. And no more Sears Catalogs either!

May 10, 2008  01:40 PM ET

In Sudbury Bostongm- you could get 3 channels if you placed your "lucky rabbits foot" on top of your radio as well. I'm sure Gocan will tell you that much!
Now if you had Chara living there...well you'd really have improved the reception...although it might still be a tad slow coming through.

May 10, 2008  02:34 PM ET

well, we put those rabbit ears up at the top of the Superstack a couple years back - essentially the same as Chara holding them up - and managed to get a couple channels from the U.S. for a bit: we traded our environmental pollutants, which travel all the way down there, for their tv pollutants!

And for the record: we DO have newspapers (albeit on birch bark) so I knew all about those fake "wannabe" NHL teams that have joined the league since '67!

May 10, 2008  03:14 PM ET

Boston...do you think Chara is human...I saved a few snippets from yesterday for you...hehe..

Oh...and Bostongm> I heard that 6'9'' Chara has a new girlfriend and she is only 5' tall. When asked how she thought the Chara the relationship was going, she answered...
"Oh, he's just "nuts over" me.
--------------
When asked what she thought it meant about Chara being nominated as a Norris candidate...she inquired, "Is that something they give him, like the chair little kids use to learn how to skate with?"
---------------
Chara is so tall he comes with his own set of folding instructions.
--------------
If Chara played in the old Guaden...the hi lite of Orr scoring on his back would be nothing. Chara would be able to do it on his belly...from his own end of the rink!
---------------
You can find plenty of Chara's old skates floating around the harbour in Boston. Filled with fisherman pulling in their nets.
--------------
Anything Bostongm tells anyone about Chara...don't believe it. They are all just tall tales.
--------------
Ever since Chara left his group to play hockey they have had to change their name to the fantastic three.

May 10, 2008  03:20 PM ET

Man....we did exactly the same thing here.
-------------------
Oh pretty please Boston...do tell, where "here" is?

May 10, 2008  03:22 PM ET

and don't believe that crap that Gocan is spouting about getting those channels off the Super Stacker. Everyone knows that a Super Stacker in Sudbury is a chimminey for one of those NEW Triplex housing units they have there recently. Kind of like calling a hill a mountain in Hamilton if you ask me.

May 10, 2008  03:27 PM ET

Sorry that should have been "The Superstack is on The Triplex."
And as far as calling a hill a mountain...thats like Toronto calling the Leafs a hockey team. HA....beat you all to it!

Now please Boston...tell us where "here" is...there's a good lad.

May 10, 2008  03:58 PM ET

...and just where is that Tower Bostongm? Please tell me...

May 10, 2008  04:27 PM ET

nice and non-commital, bgm, I'm amused at how many times you can dodge answering that question, haha.

And, not to ruin the fun, but here in Suds, the Superstack is IT. For those of you keeping track at home, it IS the world's largest chimney - Inco owned and operated right here in Sudbury. Whoop! Whoop!

And that comment about our pollutants being carried down into the States is the truth, by the way - I heard recently that remnants of what goes into the air here are found as far down as Iowa or Idaho - one of those "I" states...

May 10, 2008  04:38 PM ET

So that explains the "long winded posts". Gocan. Aha! Remnants of your posts are felt much further I'm sure...

May 10, 2008  06:55 PM ET

Gocan didn't call me a stalker Boston...and the only thing I can remember ever stocking is my beer fridge. With Canadian beer.
I am a little jealous of the Superstack thing though...All we have in Toronto is this thing they call a CN tower. Its no big deal, word has it that Gary Roberts has leaped over it in a single bound.
Hey gocan...I'm going to take a ride up to Sudbury and wrap a Modano sweater around that Superstack thing...hahaha

May 10, 2008  06:59 PM ET

You know Gocan...Its so flat where Bostongm hangs he can probably see that Superstack...Let me know if I get the sweater on right boston...hahaha

May 11, 2008  07:46 AM ET

his idea was to stock the fridge with CANADIAN beer, bgm, not American pi**
