Hoffman tosses putter in moat
Posted: Saturday May 10, 2008 09:46AM ET
After missing a tap-in of 1-foot, 7 inches on the 13th green, and then tapping in, Charley Hoffman had a conniption, tossing his belly putter into the moat in an act of disgust. He played the last 10 holes without making a par and shot 83. "Guys get frustrated," said playing partner Paul Goydos. "I'm the last person who's going to talk about that, because there are times playing with me when I need to apologize as many times as possible."

Report Offensive CommentLets cut the guy some slack. Hes out there trying to make a living and he throws away the most important club in his bag. What a doofus. At least Woody Austin breaks then over his own head, because Woody knows its not the club but the guy holding it. Hell if i threw my clubs away everytime i hit a bad shot, i wouldnt have any and if i missed a 1 foot putt(and i have)i just drink more(lol)

Report Offensive CommentAt least he hit the water, that would have been embarassing if he missed the moat as well!

Report Offensive CommentGet a real man's club, anyhow. A "belly club" by design has extra built-in support, don't you think? Those clubs are for shaky hands and uncertain putters. Practice like Greg Norman did, until his hands were bloody and he won't need that kid's club. You can look it up!

Report Offensive CommentOh yes Norman was one of the all-time great pressure putters. Why practice when you can toss your putter in the water and get a new one after the round.
