Terry Labonte to drive for Petty

Posted: Sunday May 11, 2008 09:49AM ET

Terry Labonte will be a teammate to his brother Bobby at Petty Enterprises starting next month, pending sponsor approval. Terry (and Chad McCumbee) will drive the #45 when Kyle Petty gets out for the summer. Petty is scheduled to compete in the Coca-Cola 600 and then miss the next seven races (one for his daughter's wedding and the other six to work as an analyst for TNT). McCumbee likely will drive at Dover and Chicago. Terry Labonte likely will drive in the other five races.

And why you got to be so mean, jackman???

Nice to see he can still run a limited schedule when he wants. I'm sure there is one big reason for this. the Past Champions provisional. He will get that car into each of the races he is in the car for, giving the 45 a slight chance of getting back to the top 35 in owner points.

I was at Terry's last win. It will be great to see him back. Maybe the Iceman can teach candy boy a lesson in manners.

Jackman I am with you. While Kurt has grown up somewhat, Kyle needs a few lessons .

I am looking forward to seeing these brothers race and I really hope this takes PE out of the danger zone.

Hiring Terry Labonte will only get the #45 into races; it will do nothing to get the car competitive because Terry Labonte has no killer instinct and no particular ability to improve the car.

That Kyle keeps putting off taking himself out of that seat for good and putting in Chad McCumbee is maddening. Chad is what the team needs - a young racer who can grow into the car and attack the tracks and traffic and fight for something.
