Guillen thought about quitting

Ozzie Guillen admitted on Saturday before the White Sox defeated the Mariners 8-4 that there was a time earlier this week that he thought to himself, ''I'm done with this job after this season.'' All the criticism was wearing on him. Enough so that for the first time that he could remember, even his wife, Ibis, called him up. ''I had to explain to my wife what was going on,'' Guillen said. ''She saw me 'bleeping' all over the place, and all of a sudden she wanted to know what was going on. When people in my family have to start asking me what's going on, that's what bothered me the most.''

It's not too late.

I bet his wife called him. She wanted to know more about the blow up doll.

Ozzie is one of the great human beings in baseball in America that gives the pastime some color, let alone brutal honesty. The guy does not get judged by the same rules other managers do.
Your comment did have me LMAO though 50yearfan. I bet that happened also.

Why? This is a great novella.

May 11, 2008  09:10 AM ET

Can someone say 'Drama Queen'?

May 11, 2008  09:45 AM ET

'Drama Queen'.

May 11, 2008  11:17 AM ET

Thanks.

May 11, 2008  11:49 AM ET

yeah drama queen...go switch tampons and lets not worry bout the damn baseball season lets call the wifey and ask her for advice...about your team...which UR the manager of...which is UR decision...

im sure at this point so early into ur managing career they dont really care what you do but if you quit this job theres surely not going to be another one for a long long time...the only one i could see him taking is maybe a royals job or something...i dont know if he even wants to coach anybody else but the Sox...i mean he came to the sox for a reason...he played for them and became the name in town for the franchise as a manager..idk if he'll be accepted anywhere else

especially after his world series and venezuela crap...snubbing the president as well...i mean i know its G dubya bush but still you're in america dammit...you shake his hand!!!

Guillen thought about quitting but then he used his secret weapon to motivate the team....blow up dolls!

The real story here is that he had a thought. What it was really doesn't matter.

May 11, 2008  03:42 PM ET

Please quit Ozzie, you attention w*ore! This guy has to be the biggest joke in all of MLB. Annoying little fella.

May 11, 2008  03:51 PM ET

if he cut the theatrics he'd be a good manager. evidently the white sox think he is if he's stayed around this long. go red sox

May 11, 2008  04:12 PM ET

Maybe if he'd lose the Venezuela crack he throws out every five minutes.

It isn't that friggin country who made him. It's this country.

Clown.

THE FANS DESERVE BETTER.

May 11, 2008  04:57 PM ET

Say what you will, at least the White Sox are no longer the bad , boring team they were for most of the past fifty years. Swish Nicholson would be proud..

May 11, 2008  06:41 PM ET

I guess that means that in your heart you know what's right!

And when you quit, will you help get my hubcaps back that were stolen at The Cell?

May 11, 2008  07:19 PM ET

Thanks Hillary

This guy really likes being in the news, huh? Ozzie can't stand not being the center of attention.
