I would be happy if Davis were to come to the Lakers!

Why not play out his contract year and make it through injury-free as he did this season - and earn the $17 million due to him this year? If all goes well, the Warriors should be more amenable to extending his contract. As a fan of both the W's and BD, I've appreciated what he's done for the franchise. His durability and history of injuries seem to be the biggest concern here. Otherwise, he's one of the best in the league.

As a Warrior fan, I'd hate to see Davis go. If his past injuries are a real concern for the Warriors, perhaps they could sign him to a series of 1 year contfracts similar to what the Bulls did with Jordan. This would get him the money he's asking, and still protect the franchise.

Dinero, keep dreaming. There's no way the Lakers can afford any FAs other than vets like Grant Hill who will take the vet minimum or the mid-level exception.

The ONLY way this happens is if they'd deal Lamar for him in a sign and trade deal (Warriors sign Davis). Personally, I think Lamar is more valuable (to the Lakers) than all but a few of the PGs in the league. The ONLY PGs I'd even consider trading him for are the young stars, like CP3, Williams, etc. and I highly doubt those players teams would even think about dealing those guys for anybody but a superstar at this point.

They need to resign him asap. Portland is going to be fighting for a playoff spot along with GSW and they can only hope the Nuggets and Mavs play worse next season.

Davis will likely stay in GS. You see this with everyone who wants a new contract. We will likely see months of rumors and stories for people to talk about. How many stories were their last summer about Kobe leaving? Only thing is that Kobe whined like a girl and treated his team like dirt while doing it. "wasn't there a phone call or recording with Kobe celebrating as if he were going to be with the Bulls this year?"
Baron is good. I haven't ever cared for him all that much but I can't deny his talent. Maybe it's the goofy beard and the look on his face that he has all the time. He always looks like he is frustrated like he is in an elevator and someone just cut the cheese. LOL! It's true. Just look at the typical picture here. See... lol

Davis has gone Hollywood!!!...All he cares about is a big payday and hanging with his Hollywood friends....I dont think winning is important to him anymore and his best days are behind him. He has trade value...the Warriors should sign and trade him to a non-contender that needs to generate fan interest.

Expect the Heat to take some interest in him if Miami drafts Beasley they will still be in need of a point guard to run the O. But if they draft Rose that changes things.

Perfect 360, I think he does take the mid-level to go to a contender.
So that narrows it down to just a couple of teams. We all know who they are... Well.....maybe one team. If GS doesn't max him out , he'll gladly sign a mid-level to play with Kobe; in a heart beat, man. That's a 12 mil loss for Baron and GS clears 17 mil from the cap.

Why opt out? Does he think he will be getting a better deal else where? I don't think so. He needs to stay healthy for a whole season before someone will pay him the $$$.

This report indicates why it is frustrating to be a Warriors fan.
The Warriors raise the fans' hopes by obtaining great players, and then losing them or trading them away after a couple years.
By the same token, players like Baron Davis need to learn some franchise loyalty. Baron - your career has been resurrected because of the Warriors and Don Nelson. You owe it to the franchise - and us fans - to stay for an extended period of time.
I could never understand why the Warriors did not keep Antawn Jamison and Gilbert Arenas. Back then, they said that they didn't need them because Jason Richardson could carry the slack. Then they trade Richardson as well.
For those of you who have followed the Warriors for the past 20 years, you remember that the Warriors would typically trade players to the Houston Rockets. Now, the trend is the same, but it's the Washington Wizards who have been benefiting at our expense.
There has been some improvement with Chris Mullen at the helm, but holding onto good players is an area that needs ongoing focus.

Professor Baron should consider staying in the Bay Area simply because of the large number of universities and colleges. He can obtain a part-time teaching position at any of the numerous community colleges nearby and pursue his academic side during the Summer - the NBA offseason.
When he retires, he can then enjoy teaching courses on literature and film full-time.

Kaycee1 - very intriguing trade offer.
The Warriors definitely need a strong big man, and Big Baby would fill that need nicely. Sam Cassell is a veteran point guard and would also fit in the Warriors' West Coast running style. The Celtics would get a tough, all-around point guard in Baron Davis, to help them get to the Promised Land.
If I were Mullin, I wouldn't mind that trade.
However, the Warriors have a history of trading good players without getting equal value in return. The exception is last year's trade with the Pacers, in which they made a good deal. Mullin is improving the Warriors' record, so I hope that he either keeps Baron Davis, or at least get good value in return, as the Celtics example you mentioned.
