The IFL will switch from a four-sided ring to a six-sided ring dubbed "The Hex" when the league returns to the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, New Jersey on August 15. The ring measuring 24 feet across will be constructed by Throwdown Industries and housed in Las Vegas. The ring will retain its five ropes.

An octagon ring. Won't have much impact, IMO.

It should make it harder to cut off a fighters lateral movement. If you watch Ali fights that's really what made him special great lateral movement and the ability to punch while moving backwards. It's less important in mma because stand up is only one phase of combat.

And yeah I'd have her ride me piggy back from the front while punching me in the face that'd be hot.

Come on this creams wrstling gimmick, not a rule change. If you want a six-sided ring make it a cage, not a ring. It is just going to look weird

Damm it - I can't handle all this change!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Wow...that's creative......where do they come up with these crazy ideas....

It's not a new thing. Wrestling promotions in Mexico have been using the 6-sided ring for years. TNA Wrestling (on SpikeTV) went to it a couple of years ago. You get used to it pretty quickly.
