Mets catch Reds batting out of order

"That's the first time I've had it and this is my 23d year," home plate ump and crew chief Dale Scott said of the Reds batting out of order yesterday in the ninth inning against the Mets, a little snafu that was resolved in what seemed like a matter of hours. Reds manager Dusty Baker, who once batted out of order as a player because of differing lineup cards, took full blame. The Reds had double-switched earlier and put the pitcher eighth where starting catcher Paul Bako originally hit while Ross went to No. 9. When Patterson entered on a later double-switch, he went to the eighth spot.

Mights as well go ahead and take the blame Dusty.

Now that Krivsky is gone it's all gonna land on you anyway, sooner or later.......

Enjoy Dusty, Reds fans.

The Lizard needs to read TOTAL BASEBALL

Wow, I'm glad Castellini fired Krivsky, I was tired of losing too.

Not only are we still losing, now were batting out of order! What is this Little League? Did Dusty stab himself in the eye with his toothpick or something?

Want to quit losing games? Hurry up and trade Dunn and JR.

They should probably trade the Reds for a major league team too. That would help.

Dunn and JR are clogs in the lineup. Josh Hamilton has more RBI than those two combined! Replace those two with people that can hit above .250 a lot of problems are solved. I am not as concerned with the rotation and the bullpen. Dunn hit a sac fly Sunday. I about fell out of my chair!

I miss Lou. Wonder if Chi-town would accept a trade for our old manager for your old manager.

The Lizard was probably listening to his jazz records and smoking a doobie.

What a miscue...sounds like a Little League blunder.

And .. the Vikings are on the clock!

May 12, 2008  01:23 PM ET

What in sam hill? There is no room for this bush league crap in the MLB. This is like walking a run in. That never used to happen but does about 5 times a week nowadays.

May 12, 2008  02:17 PM ET

Forget about the players. The umps took about 20 minutes on this going back and forth with each other and both managers. If the guys who's only job is to know the rules don't know, we are in trouble. At least Chris Welsh knew, he's the only one not affected by the JTM Curse!

this is sooo funny- I thought this only happened in t-ball- wait a minute- hell it don't even happen there- what a joke!

Okay, that cracked me up...... LOL!

May 12, 2008  07:26 PM ET

In the corner of the Cubs dugout the players put up a sign that read "Dusty Baker Slept Here" The brass took it down, but it sure seems funny now!

May 12, 2008  07:35 PM ET

Wow...way to stay on top of the game Dusty. I know baseball can get boring, but seriously, even I can keep up with the line up!

May 12, 2008  09:32 PM ET

Dusty Baker may well be the worst manager in the history of major league baseball. This mother *&^%er is so stupid, he couldn't pour piss out of a boot. If the Reds really want to move forward as a franchise, and not stifle the good young pitchers they have, can his ass.
