Cubs owner rejects Wrigley sale

Tribune Co. Chairman Sam Zell has rejected former Gov. James Thompson's secret plan to acquire and renovate Wrigley Field for at least $400 million without raising taxes and now plans to package the Cubs and their landmark stadium in a private transaction, sources said Monday. Together, the Cubs and their real estate could command $1 billion, based on recent sales of professional teams.

Report Offensive CommentI know the Cubs sell out pretty much every game and sales of merchandise are high, but that is too much to pay for a sports team.

Report Offensive CommentIt really doesn't matter. If Selig has his way, we'd be owned by someone who would not have the best interest of the Cubs in mind. Selig's butt buddy, John Canning, is a minority owner of the Brewers.

Report Offensive CommentSell 'em to Cuban and he'll find you a big, slow German that can't play defense there, too.

What are you talking about, there's a huge parking lot next door at the McDonalds, you can fit dozens of cars in there. Also there's also historic and scenic Graceland Cemetary.
