Taking two more steps to infuse young talent into their club, the Blues signed 2007 first-round draft pick Lars Eller on Monday night and were close to signing 2005 first-rounder T.J. Oshie. Eller's deal was pending a physical, and although Oshie had yet to sign a contract, he was in St. Louis ready to take a physical.

Good to hear.... I think Davidson has this team headed in the dead on right direction. They'll be back in the POs within 2 years......

Osh-Gosh-by gosh...How did this story even get here?

You know, these signings mean next to nothing to this team next season. This team tried to make big moves last year with the guys they signed, and only ended up with old, run down, washed up players - Tkachuk, Weight, Kariya - who couldn't help the team down the stretch because they lacked the conditioning, and of course, the heart, because they are just mercenaries now, going to the highest bidder (especially Kariya).

Now, it seems they are overcompensating by hiring guys who are so young and inexperienced that they have little chance of making the club next season. Its nice to see the organization making moves in the right direction, but I hope they have a few more tricks up their collective sleeves if they are looking to make the playoffs next year. I hope they aren't banking on Boyes potting another 40 either...

Actually, they didn't have Weight down the stretch, because they traded him for Andy MacDonald. I agree these signings won't help the Blues in the short term (next year), but to see the Blues drafting well and signing and keeping young players is refreshing, especially compared to earlier regimes, when there was no dedication to drafting and developing their own players.

Oh my God - there ARE Blues fans! (at least one, haha)

WHO?

Well its better to have decent prospects signed and ready to go into camp over the summer. The good thing is, its better to be a Blues fan right now than a Leafs fan and thats good enough for me.
