Gagne changes tune on closing

One day after manager Ned Yost said he was removing Eric Gagne from the closer's role to allow him to regroup mentally, the embattled reliever said he was ready to start saving games for the Milwaukee Brewers again. "I know I belong in the ninth inning," Gagne said Monday afternoon.

I SWEAR he just said the other day, "I don't belong in the ninth inning."

And I think he blew a lead again last night though, to his credit, it was NOT in the ninth inning.

"I don't deserve that ninth inning right now. It's very simple." Eric Gagne, 5/11

A manager's dream, huh?

methinks that all that juice affected his brain function too......

"I know I belong in the ninth inning," ..Gagne.

I agree. Just not when your team is ahead.

Report Offensive Comment

Gagne was much better on the juice. Send him back to Boston to blow 8th inning leads there.

Just proves you've got to be a bit psychotic to be a closer. If you can't remember what you said day before yesterday, you probably won't rememeber the two dingers you gave up in the 9th last night.

Report Offensive Comment

Has-been chump.

Report Offensive Comment

Is this "9th Inning" you speak of a local tavern where you can swell canadian beer and sloppy joes? If yes, then I agree that's where you belong. The 9th inning in a game? No...you sucketh!!!!

Report Offensive Comment

localboy, you do need to be psychotic. Psychotic enough to want to be in the ninth inning, no matter what.

I never heard a closer say he didn't want to be there. That's like a kicker saying he didn't want to try a FG with the game on the line, or a hoops player saying he didn't want to have to take the last shot.

When they've lost that bravado, they've lost their balls.

gas can. if there is a better poster boy for the effects of roids, i can't find him.

Can we get those uniform cops from the NFL on guys like Gagne. He makes Co-rec softballers look good.

Report Offensive Comment

Insane in the membrane...got not brain, he's insane.

Report Offensive Comment

It just goes to show how much steroids enhances ability. Without the juice, the guy never would've made AA

Report Offensive Comment

he just showed why he is only a one inning guy against the cards

Report Offensive Comment

steroids cant control his mechnics and command

No, not entirely. But they do affect your ability to stay healthy and mainain focus. If you don't think this piece of canadian bacon was roidin' you are suffering from the early stages of stage 3 dimentia!
