Report Offensive CommentDrJ, people on the MMA rumors boards care. If you don't, then maybe you should skip the T&R for MMA.

Report Offensive CommentDude..Mir annhilated Lesnar
Pundik | 05/13/08, 10:17 AM
Report Offensive CommentI wouldn't say he annihilated him. He beat him with a kneebar, but Lesner was in control of the fight before that. Mis has very good submissions and Lesner obviously didn't know how to defend against the kneebar.

Report Offensive CommentLesnar in a couple years will be an animal. For now, Mir is just a better, smarter fighter. I'm glad they're putting heavyweights on the show though, it seems like nobody cares about the division anymore. Maybe if there are some good characters to go along with good fighters then people will become more interested in the division.

Report Offensive CommentLesnar? Brock Lesnar? He's already an animal. Heard he's a nice guy though.

Report Offensive CommentLesnar just needs a TON more hand and BJJ work, but he's a beast.
I think he's a little further along than Kimbo. But if Kimbo can add some BJJ and wrestling, good lord that dude has some hands and can take a punch. Wooping Tank Abbott didnt prove anything to the UFC fighters sounds like.
Just shows you how phenominal the athletes of professional MMA are.

Report Offensive CommentI don't think whooping Tank proved anything to anyone, because the last few years Tank has been getting beat anytime he fought, which has been rare lately. I think Kimbo and Brock are a good comparison as far as where they are in the sport. Kimbo is a much better striker, but Brock would probably win a fight between the two, because he would simply take him down and control him on the ground while pounding him. Brock needs to work on this standup and submissions, but had good takedowns and ground control. Kimbo has much better standup and if they stood nad traded punched I think Kimbo would knock Lesnar out, but I don't think Brock would try that.

Report Offensive CommentMir is a much better fighter than anyone Kimbo has faced though.

Report Offensive CommentI also think a fight between Mir and Nogueira is going be a very good and very technical fight. Both of them have excellent submissions. Hopefully Frank will be in good shape. That's the biggest knock agaisnt him is that he isn't always in top shape for fights.

Go ahead and get "training" with him... by the way I think your "J" key is sticking or something.

Report Offensive CommentCanada, Most MMA guys don't fight more than 2-3 fights a year, so settign this up that far in advance is not that our of the ordinary.

Report Offensive CommentNope, it's Light Heavyweights for the contestants, Heavyweight is just the two coaches. Mir is in shape now, he came back to soon from the accident that nearly killed him. Oh and I wouldnt say Lesnar controlled the fight. They both executed their game plans. Mir knew Lesnar would take him down and knew Lesnar was a beast. He also knew he'd get a hold of a limb.

Report Offensive CommentNot neccesarily, if you read the interview with Mir after the fight he expected Brock to stand and punch with him.I figured Mir would submit him. Not a good first fight for Brock to be put in there agaisnt Mir. As far as Mir's conditioning he was never in top shape before his accident either, so using the accident as an excuse for not being in shape doesn't really work for me. A do agree that he did come back too soon from the accident.

Report Offensive CommentJason70- I am glad you care. My comment was only an opinion: something anyone can give as long as it is not personal. I know everyone has their own personal love of sports.. it was only a comment and nothing more.
drj0514 | 05/13/08, 02:12 PM
Report Offensive CommentDRJ, I hear you. If you took anything I said as being personal I apologize. I liked the fight, becasue when Brock took him down and started pounding him I thought Frank was in trouble, and I was surprised that it was stood up for the hits to the back of the head, because I had never seen a restart due to that, and I think that gave Frank some tme to get his bearings. As soon as Frank grabbed Brocks leg I figured it was going to be over due to his submission skills.

BJJ would be Brazilian Ju Jitsu. Not to be confused with everyone's favorite past time, the BJ :)
