Spurrier adjusts title timetable
A year ago, Steve Spurrier's message was the Gamecocks were ready to compete for the SEC title. After a season-ending, five-game losing streak dashed those dreams in 2007, the timetable has been adjusted. "Our goal is to win the SEC. It hasn't changed," Spurrier said. "We're looking forward the next three or four years of competing and hopefully winning that game in Atlanta real soon." Spurrier told the Richland/Lexington Gamecock Club that redshirt junior Tommy Beecher will start summer drills as the No. 1 quarterback, saying the right-hander has "the talents and smarts" to be successful. Beecher, who played sparingly the past two seasons, overtook Chris Smelley following Smelley's five-interception showing in the spring game.

With all the trouble that his qbs have been getting in lately, not to mention the horrible showing in the spring game, he's not underplaying anything... He just doesn't want to look like an idiot...

Hey Stevie, you'll win the SEC when the rest of the conference gives up football...please hold your breath.

Their goes eyesWIDEshut with another comment about an up and coming program. Who is playing QB for FSU this year? What happend to Preston Parker? Weapons and drug charges that has struck the FSU program here recently. Let me not start on the Cheating Scandal, were 6 starters will be sitting out a few games on suspension chargers from the University. That makes you 7 short there buddy. If, I were you change your ICON PICTURE to something else, especially talking about other Schools. Clean up your back yard first. I think the "Old Ball" Coach has done just fine. He does play in the SEC, without a good signal caller, spells automatic trouble. At least he doesn't have too many criminals running between the lines from the Police.

Ghostrider, I was simply referring to South Carolina's chances of winning the SEC, which are nil. Now, regarding players in trouble, I seem to remember a certain player of Stevie's, Jabar Gaffney. Mr. Gaffney went into the Gators' lockerroom while UF was hosting the High School State Championship Game. He stole jewelry, cash , and anything else he could steal - from HIGH SCHOOL KIDS! Now, how do you explain Saint Stevie allowing this fine young citizen to play for the Gators again? I'll tell you how - Stevie is SCUM!
And change my icon? Nah, I kind of like the one I have. If you don't like it, then all the better. Have a nice day ****.

LOL, we are upstet. I mean, Win the ACC first then we can talk. This isn't 1990s anymore. Stop hating on Steve, I would even worry about old Steve anymore. You have Urban to contend with now. He is kicking the **** out of your program if you haven't noticed. That is only one incident that you can bring up from UF time zone. I mean, Peter Warrick was doing the samething at the local mall their in Tallahassee. One is not better than the other, but Steve let his play you are right. Bobby hasn't gained any control over his program since the 90s, and you know I am right. You are right, I am an ass that tells the truth.

We won the ACC waaaaaaay back in 2005. When was the last time South Carolina won their conference?
The reference to Gaffney was just one example. There are many others, but you already know that.
Now, shoo.

Carolina is a rather new addition to the SEC, I am sure if they stayed in the ACC they would have made it to the Div championship game and won it by now. As for saying that SOS has no chance of winning SEC, I think that comment is a bit drastic. I do not think their chances are good, but the defense is stout with all but one starter returning. The offense does leave me guessing, if the QBs get their passes down and the O-line works better then the past, their are a lot of weapons on the field that SOS can use. As for The True, "With all the trouble that his qbs have been getting in lately", I would not expect a UGA fan to be able to count but what QBs are you refering to? The only QB in trouble is Garcia, Smelley and Beecher are both great students and role models. Also, during the spring game the Defense knew that SOS was going to air it out, especially with smelley since the RB was nursing an injury on his team, so the D basically put in the lightest/fastest linebackers in the game which basically turned into 7 DBs every play. I was hoping UGA had a chance at the east last year, once USC fell out, and a possible NC. How did that happen?... Losses to Tenn. and USC. So stop talking trash when you lost to us last year. The SEC is pretty wide open this year, GA and FLA are going to be serious contenders. Tenn is in some transition along with Ark and LSU. USC will have a battle on it's hands but SEC is attainable within the next few years.

Miami hasn't been able to do it, but South Carolina would have? It's good to know that you have a sense of humor.

Being a UGA grad, I certainly have a dislike for Spurrier from his days at UF. However, if anyone if going to get it done there its going to be him. There difference I think is the recrutiing and the signing of depth and talent at all positions. He is getting solid players, but not at every position and not in the depth that some of the other SEC schools are getting. Once that happens, it will be a new world at USC and they wont just be a 6-8 win team a season. You can bet though that SOS is on that list of coaches who can do more with less though....
I know he loved beating UGA last year....grr.... :)

They'll win a big SEC game every now and then, but year in and year out, South Carolina simply can't compete with teams like UGA, UF, LSU, and UT. That isn't going to change anytime soon, no matter who their coach is.

We had not beat Fla. since 1912 or something till SOS, we never beat Tenn at home till SOS, no USC QB had ever beaten Fla, Tenn, UGA, and CU until SOS was the coach. So in 3 years, he has taken a Holtz based team and made some adjustments of his own and made history there. It is his 4th year, so this will be his 3rd recruiting class this year, which boils down to having 2 of his classes on the field (taking RS into account). You think that Carolina is not going to improve drastically.. Even if USC finishes middle of the SEC pack, I feel as though that is better then top of the ACC. I think some people are begining to under estimate SOS, please do not learn from the past.

I don't underestimate Stevie, he's just overrated. Stevie doesn't worry me at all as an opposing coach. You mentioned several things that he's been able to do while at SC. Let me tell you something he was NOT able to do - win in Tallahassee. Any of his UF teams from the 90's would put a serious beating on his best SC squad, but even with THOSE teams, he couldn't get the job done in Tally. Even the Zooker was able to do it, but not Stevie. I wonder if that bothers him...

When did he have the opportunity to win at Tally with USC? If you are talking about Fla. thats the past. I would love to USC play your schedule and FSU to play ours. The SEC would shred that little bit of ego you have left. You are looking to the past for your victories, while USC is looking forward. Hold onto yesteryear, maybe one day you can write a sweet rock ballad on how FSU beat Spurrier... And you can write the refrain to say you would beat any team coached by Spurrier at home.. And just like every other sweet rock ballad out there you will realize it is complete BS.

Listen, I understand you being upset. I'd be upset too if that jackass was coaching my team. Don't kid yourself though, we'd crush SC on our WORST day! It's good that you prefer the middle of the SEC to the top of the ACC, because that's about as far as SC will ever get.
