Marbury wants to stay with Knicks
Camera flashes lit up the Garden Theater as Stephon Marbury embraced new Knicks coach Mike D'Antoni Tuesday. That's as close as Marbury may get to D'Antoni, as the point guard knows he might not be a Knick when the 2008-09 season tips off. "If I'm here, I'm here," Marbury said. "If I'm not, I could do it someplace else. I'm just getting my mind and my body right. I love New York, but if I wasn't going to be here, I wouldn't be here." With a season to go - at $22 million - on his expiring contract, Marbury could be dealt to another team wanting him in his last year to free up money under the salary cap, or the Knicks may decide to keep him, looking to do the same. Despite the rumors, Marbury said he has already been preparing to run the new coach's offense, which D'Antoni intends to shape into the same run-and-gun style he deployed in Phoenix.

I actually think Marbury would do well in this system if he's healthy. If there is one thing he likes to do it's shoot.

Well of course he wants to stay, Defense is hard work. Plus, who wants this guy on their team? No one!

Why the hostility? Marbury is known as an athletic and successful guard in the league.
Let's see how he does with D'Antoni. Maybe he will be better than Nash.
If not, then the Knicks simply continue to struggle. So much the better.

I wonder if he is still interested in playing in Italy. Of course, who would be willing to be bought out when you are one of the top paid NBA players with declining skills.

Marbury is being traded the offseason to whomever offers the most for his expiring contract. He will then promptly be bought out by that team.
My guess is he's traded to the Pacers for O'Neal and Tinsley.
No way he suits up for the Knicks next season, even for one game. They'll buy him out first.

Have you 2 actually WATCHED him play the last 4 years?
He is not stephon circa 1998.....
He is not a 'young kid with unlimited potential'
His best days are LONG behind him, his days as a 'superstar' are long behind him
AND we are stuck with him for ONE more year- then his contract expires- which is probably the BEST thing he will have done for this franchise

Marbury will fail miserably in D'Antoni's system. D'Antoni's system requires running the floor and sharing the ball. Marbury has not shown that he is willing to do either. Marbury will only be with the knicks until they can deal him, or until that ridiculous contract expires.

There's an event at MSG this summer called "Walking with Dinosaurs."
I thought it was a Knicks exhibition.

The Knicks will never grow as long as Marbury is within 50 yards of MSG. Any one who thinks there is an ounce of hope left for him playing for the Knicks and actually being productive........Just take a look at the Bruse Beck interview he did. Steph is done and should no longer have a seat on the NY bench.
