He will have a hard time earning the money coming his way on his current contract. The Bears would be crazy to extend it and pay him more. Not sure you could even trade him with the contract he has now..

I really dont like it when players hack away at their clubs both mentally (will cause a lower team morale) and physically (more money). They signed the damned contract, so play for your team until they have a chance to negotiate. These players show such greed.

Having said that, I do enjoy seeing the Bears crumble.

Contracts mean nothing now.. they sign but a year later want more if they perform.. sad. Play and honor what you signed or sit at home and get nothing...

Urlacher was one of the most productive linebackers in the league last year and deserves a raise. The Bears defense has been on the field an incredible amount of time over the last few seasons, which has taken a toll on Urlacher's body. He was the only linebakcer in the league last year with 5 sacks and 5 picks. That's a player on the decline? The salary cap was at $75 mil when Urlacher signed his contract, its now at $116 mil. He's given his heart and soul to Chicago. Pay the man!

I'm not just being a homer here. Urlacher is better than his current paychecks are. And he is stubborn too, if he says he will hold out, then I believe he will. Last year Briggs threw out a bunch of crap about how he will never play in Chicago, but then didn't back it up. Urlacher is the type that will do exactly what he says he will do. Thats probably why he is respected so highly in the locker room. I'm not saying this is all right and OK, but the truth is that a lot of guys make a lot more money than Urlacher and are not nearly the caliber of player he is. All the talk about him not being good anymore is inaccurate, last year the entire Bears defense was banged up, it just showed that he is not superman, but he is still one of the top three linebackers in the NFL, if not top three defensive players. he should be paid that way.

Now the talk about signing the long term deal...... Listen signing that kind of a deal, was more than just security for Urlacher, it was a statement that he wanted to be a Chicago Bear for his entire career, he should not be punished for that.

Urlacher, you need to just shut your trap and get into camp. Your play the past couple years has dropped off and you don't deserve a contract extension and extra money. What have you done for Chicago lately? Except bring bad publicity to the City for all your off the field antics. What you need more money to pay for all your children you may have around?

people like you make me sick...when it was lance briggs wanting more money ( which the bears paid) all of you urlacher cheerleaders called him every name in the book...now that its your good ole boy..you say its ok...come on...this dude hasnt been productive in two yrs...he was completely overpowered in the SB and he has a attitude problem...he's old and his body cant even do what it used to do well( run sideline to sideline) ...I told you that briggs was more valuable to the bears than urlacher...its that simple...to all of you who kept it real...continue

Sauce ..Hard to justify paying the guy mega bucks in 2012 for work he did in 2007. No one believes for one second that he will be that effective 4/5 years from now. He was on a losing team, that also plays in to it.. His image is bigger than his game..The phone will not be ringing off the hook from other teams to trade for this guy. He is over valued now..

For all you fans sticking up for Urlacher. Suppose the Bears decide to sign him, let's say $60 million over the next 5 years. What happens when he only plays 6 games because of injury next season. Can the Bears decide to not honor the contract and refuse to pay him??

You signed the contract idiot!! You should have held out for a better deal then, or pushed to be traded to the highest bidder.
