Independence High junior DeVonte Holloman, rated the nation's No. 2 safety by scout.com, committed to Clemson. Holloman, 6-foot-3 and 205 pounds, also considered Michigan. He was an All-Observer pick as a sophomore and junior.

Too bad - he has to suffer with all those losses in big games.....

Thats the #1 and #2 safeties in the same class

This was unexpected (meaning how quickly he committed) as he had just told a scout he was going to come back up to UM for their weekend BBQ just this past weekend. Clem$on must have the magic touch or Holloman just didn't like what UM was going to BBQ. But, I understand his choice. It's close to home and his parents can come and see him. And unlike USC, UM can't promise his parents that they will fly them in to see their son play.

It wasn't unexpected in the least. We all knew it was coming, and that he wasn't going to Michigan.

Good pickup by Clemson.

You think Clem$on is taking a page from F$U and that Bowden tree? Ju$t wondering how they pull the top rated $afety from Texa$, and then they get the #2 rated $afety a$ well, which i$ more under$tandable $ince he wa$ in their backyard.

It'$ hard for L$U and U$C to pull kid$ away from Texa$, but a POWERHOU$E like Clem$on ju$t know$ how to recruit.

Why is it so hard for you to believe that someone would actually have the audacity to choose a school other than LSU? South Carolina isn't my idea of heaven, but the best part of Louisiana got washed away by Katrina. Without the Big Easy, Louisiana might as well be Mississippi.

May 14, 2008  04:35 PM ET

Well you can rip him for that, but first thing a big name school gets a great player ripped out of there fingers they all go back tot there most basic complaint.......

Fowl play. Remember you cry fowl play all the time when you lost a recruit back when FSU was a recruiting destination

and also Louisiana has a few things that Miss. doesn't have
1. People in Louisiana know how to spell
2. Louisiana is home of the defending national champs

I never doubted nor argued or brought up his decision to go to Clemson instead of LSU. I named 3 schools in my post, but feel free to insert a multitude of others such as Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, USC, or Ohio State. Clem$on going cross country for a recruit is big, especially a decent ACC team not known for their defense going into texas to get the kid.

It's also very debate worthy that the BEST part of Louisiana got washed away by Katrina, just ask anyone from Houston. If you are going to have the audacity to bring up one of the the worst national disasters in American history, have the decency to have your facts straight and have your spell check working.

No F$U fan can argue that Bowden is a Saint by any means. Bowden could learn alot from Joe Paterno who is a real legacy.

LSUDYNASTY, what did I spell incorrectly? (This insults me more than you bashing FSU.)

Those are both excellent points, can't argue with either one.
