EliteXC to create women's title

Posted: Wednesday May 14, 2008 07:52AM ET

EliteXC live events president Gary Shaw announced the intention of creating a women's title later this year, as well as possibly putting together an all women's fight card to air on television in 2009. The conference call is part of the promotion's build-up to its network television debut on May 31 on CBS. Shaw also confirmed that the first title would be at 140-pounds, although he didn't rule out possibly creating titles for women in different weight classes in the future. He also mentioned the winner of the fight between Gina Carano and Kaitlin Young as one of the likely participants in the first EliteXC women's title bout.

They did a special on E:60 last night on ESPN. She's pretty hot, but I haven't yet seen a decent chick fight in MMA. Usually one chick is a lot better than the other one and it's over in no time.

Carano is gonna get killed by Young. Until May 31, she was very well protected by the org. This will be a good test for her, but Young is going to be the first women's champ.
