Couture lurking for future fight

In a boon for Southern California mixed martial arts fans, Russia's Fedor Emelianenko, the man ranked by some of the sport's devotees as the top fighter in the world, is coming to Anaheim for a July 19 fight against former Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight champion Tim Sylvia. A spokesman for Randy Couture's Las Vegas company said Couture expects to attend the Anaheim show, and MMA promoter Roy Englebrecht said Couture "is lurking" for a possible future fight.

Lets get this started!

Fedor should fight a handicap match. Him against both of those worms. He'd kick both their ****.

Report Offensive Comment

HAHAHA, Feor can't beat The Natural....take it to the bank. Fedor is highly overrated and if he ever grows a set this year, Randy will be happy to prove it to him and the world.

If Chuck can knock out Randy, then there is little doubt that Fedor can do it. He dominated Lindland when they fought as well. I would love to see this fight come together. I think Randy is a great fighter, but Fedor's punches are as hard as they come.

Dana White is a moron for not letting them fight. I say Randy should just jump into the cage during introductions and start whipping Fedor silly.

I cant wait to see Fedor fight Silvia. I dont think the Maniac will be able to hang with Fedor.

Would love to see Fedor fight Couture.

Finally the more recent MMA fans, more specifically americans, will get to see the best fighter in the world in action (that's Fedor, lol).

"Rock you can beat this bum" !!!

Report Offensive Comment

I'm not a fan of his in anyway but truth is Tim Sylvia, though he doesn't look it and did get his balls handed to him by Randy, is a hell of a fighter. He is very well rounded and has beaten some pretty big names. I think he's going to beat Fedor. I'm not just saying that. I really think its a bad matchup for Fedor and although i don't think it will be a dominant fight by Sylvia, I think he is going to win.

Hyped, I would say I have seen him fight as many times as you have. I have seen every Pride event and seen him fight on Bodog. I've been watching MMA since the first UFC, so I wouldn't be so fast to talk down to American fans.

Maybe I didn't express myself very well.
I wasn't trying to offend anyone, far from that!!!!
I was trying to say that more recent MMA fans usually don't know anything about Fedor, and see him as a nobody or something of the sort. More recent fans also think the UFC was always superior to Pride FC.
The only reason I talked about "americans" is because 99% of this site's users are north americans. But, of course, I know that many americans, such as yourself, know more about the sport as a whole, and not just about the UFC starting at TUF1.
My apologies if I sounded rude!

Who has FEDOR beaten? I saw a story back when Dana White wanted Fedor and things didn't work out and then people were saying Fedor has dominated a bunch of bums...I am genuinely interested. Why should we think he can take Couture?

Report Offensive Comment

Aeron, Fedor has beaten anyone in his weight class worth mentioning, except Couture.

- Minotauro Nogueira, the UFC's current HW champ? Fedor destroyed him... not once, but twice!
- Cro Cop
- Kevin Randleman
- Mark Coleman, twice
- Heath Herring
- Mark Hunt
- Ricardo Arona
- Babalu Sobral
- Matt Lindland
- Fujita
- Kohsaka
- Semmy Schilt (K-1's reigning champion)
- Gary Goodridge
- Zuluzinho
- Ogawa

And a few others. This is a who's who list of MMA heavyweights.

Dana White is just jealous because the UFC doesn't have the currently ranked #1 HW in the world.

Report Offensive Comment

He has beaten far better competition than any UFC HW champion, in the entire history of the UFC.

A HL video of Fedor: www.youtube.com/watch?v=PAwZTVoZA9U&eurl

Bear in mind that he was the undefeated HW champion of Pride FC. More than that, keep in mind that the HW talent and overall division of Pride FC, at the time, was much much stronger than that of the UFC.

Also, you heard Dana White's comments on Fedor? Now hear Joe Rogan's:

fedor is THE BADDEST in the world i ve seen every pride, ufc, wec, hdnet fights, you name it i've probably watched it. FEDOR IS AWESOME!!!!
fedor/coture will be the fight of the century and dana was stupid for not getting with fedor's organization to do a mixed promotion. both sides actually would win. dana was just greedy and screwed all the REAL fight fans out there.

Another lesson on just who is Fedor:

I have seen a couple of fedor's fights. Not a lot and when he fought Cro Cop that was a bad **** fight. I would like to see him and Randy hook it up. I think given enough time to prepare Randy can beat damn near anybody in the world. Sure Chuck did beat him twice, but i think Chuck just has his number that doesn't mean Chuck is a better fighter. That beings said I am pretty d@mn sure that Fedor hits quite a bit harder than the Iceman so Randy is going to be in for the fight of his life standing up. If Randy gets him on the ground though I think its a toss up and the only place he has a real chance of beating Fedor
