Stars owner to keep two GMs

Stars owner Tom Hicks said before Wednesday night's game that he is pleased with the team's co-general manager configuration and would like to take "interim" off of the titles for Les Jackson and Brett Hull. "I look forward to having negotiations with them to talk about what the future is going to be," Hicks said. When Hicks fired Doug Armstrong in November, he made the controversial decision to name co-GMs -- the first time that had occurred in NHL history. He said at the time that he would decide in the summer whether to continue the experiment.

That sounds like a good idea. Doesn't change the fact that we're gonna get overplayed by fast paced offenses like the red wings. Perhaps a style change?

makes sense... you got the money.. use it

May 15, 2008  07:31 AM ET

How long will this work? One will be gone in 18-24 months.

May 15, 2008  08:10 AM ET

They made exactly zero moves except for getting Richards. These guys just got lucky.Did you see Hull cramming his face on last nights game? Looks like he just smoked one out back.

Works for them! And, as somone said, if it ain't broke don't fix it!

May 15, 2008  11:27 AM ET

Keep em around. They managed to do just enough to get em to the conference finals this year. I'd say they're doin a good job.

May 15, 2008  01:21 PM ET

I saw Hull and Josh Howard riding to the game together with smoke pouring out of the car.

May 15, 2008  01:48 PM ET

In this case ...1+1=1

May 15, 2008  02:30 PM ET

yeah, it does Bauner - 1 team that will set its expectations higher next year than they can live up to!

May 15, 2008  05:21 PM ET

They done well. Keep em. Plus Hull can probably weasel a couple of higher draft picks out of Bettman like Lemiuex seems to do. Only not that high cuz the Stars don't suck.

May 15, 2008  05:42 PM ET

That's good, Baun-ded! Very clever! That math only seems to work in the NHL though!

Reading that was like looking directly at a 100 watt light bulb at 5 am. I get your point though.

May 15, 2008  11:42 PM ET

How do you get his point Jables? You can't even read what he wrote? Did you have an English teacher Dunbar? Because if you did, he or she should be sent to the firing squad. Put the phone down long enough to get out of text-message mode buddy! We accept only posts that make linguistic sense on the NHL FN threads.

To start - wtnelson, you made a few too many grammatical errors to be berating someone else for their style of writing.

I'm glad that Dallas is keeping Hull and Jackson, I think that they've been a very good thing for the Dallas Stars. You all also seem to forget they managed to bring FA Brunnstrom to the Stars over teams like Detroit, Anaheim and Ottawa. They should be praised for bringing a relaxed style to an organization that needed help from the top down last year.

Also, just because people eat at a high rate of speed, it doesn't mean they're stoned. Maybe the man was just hungry, like everyone else that has ever lived.
