Magic need to address SG position
Magic president Bob Vander Weide admitted that addressing the team's hole at shooting guard is of the utmost importance this summer. Maurice Evans, Keith Bogans and Keyon Dooling split time at that spot this season. Evans and Dooling are unrestricted free agents, while Bogans has a player option for next season (for $2.9 million) that he isn't expected to exercise. The Magic could have interest in Los Angeles Clippers guard Corey Maggette or Golden State's Mickael Pietrus in free agency. Maggette would have to first opt out of his contract. Restricted free agents Josh Childress and Luol Deng also could appeal to the Magic.

The Orlando Magic: the best team in the NBA nobody cares about.

The Magic do need to upgrade the shooting guard position, but that is masking the real problem: they start two small forwards. What they need is a power forward. Then, move Lewis to small forward, and Hedo to the shooting guard.

i agree with yffer1. sign the mop haired dude (unrestricted free agent) from cleveland and give howard some help on the boards. another pg off the bench would help also.

I'm guessing JJ Reddick isn't part of their plans.

J.J Redick - It's hard to believe that they will give up on him, but scoring points from the perimeter isn't a problem for Orlando. What I would love to know is if Magic president Bob Vander Weide really believes their greatest need is at shooting guard. I love Orlando, but I see them as a team destined for a lot of second round exits. I agree with Barkley that their guards are not big enough to deal with Detroit's guards, but the question is, Do you change a team to deal with one potential issue or one specific team? It didn't work out so well for the Suns. Or, do you just try to make your team better every year, and let the chips fall where they may?

JJ is too small for his position. Plus, he can't play defense.

Didn't Maggette bail on the Magic in his rookie season? He'll be a good fit to run out on breaks. Defense is adequate too.
