Parcells likes Ricky's work ethic
Posted: Friday May 16, 2008 06:04AM ET
Throughout the past five months, several Dolphins employees have observed a unique relationship building between Ricky Williams and Bill Parcells, the Dolphins' vice president of football operations. The new boss likes Williams' diligent work ethic, taking note of his desire to build his body back into elite form during the offseason. According to one team employee, Parcells also has reminded Williams, who turns 31 next week, that he isn't too old to make an impact in this league, pointing to former Giants and University of Miami running back Ottis Anderson as motivation. In 1989, under Parcells, Anderson was named the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year and the MVP of Super Bowl XXV. At the time, Anderson was 32.

Report Offensive CommentRicky has always been talented and no doubt has the legs for 3-4 seasons. The issue is he loves drugs and feels little concern with using them. He is an issue waiting to happen. He might end up as one of the most talented RB's that will be a "what could have been"?!

Report Offensive CommentAs long as Bill keeps drug testing away Ricky will feel like he can do anything at his age.. until he gets hit and is hurt. Pot affects not only the brain but muscles. What a sad story of a great athlete that clearly does not care of his life and team.

Report Offensive CommentI don't understand this "love affair" that some of the top coaches seem to have for Ricky Williams. First it was Ditka trading away his whole draft to get Ricky. Now it's Parcells.
There are servicable RBs on the street with much fewer problems than Ricky. Ryan Grant and Willie Parker were both undrafted. Who would you rather have...a young guy with speed who's clean or an over-30 guy with issues?

Report Offensive CommentYou don't condem a man because he smoked pot. If he gets caught again you don't have to pay him simple as that. Ricky Williams is 31 not a kid anymore I'm sure Bill relates to him on alot of levels other than just football and potsmoking and "Work ethics" means alot more than what he does to get ready for football, it carries over to life as well. Anybody knows Parcells knows that too.

you are incredibly ignorant. MJ does not effect muscles. Maybe being stoned and not wanting to workout might effect the musculature but the actual substance itself has no adverse effect on the muscles.
