Reds haven't talked Griffey trade

Posted: Friday May 16, 2008 06:58AM ET

Jay Bruce might be the hottest hitter on the planet. His bat is ready for the big leagues. The only thing preventing a call-up is the Reds don't have a spot for him to play. Trading Ken Griffey Jr. would open a spot. But despite all the speculation, a Griffey trade isn't close to happening. "I've had no trade discussions," Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said. Jocketty has talked to Griffey about the situation.

It's Not!

Bruce will get his shot when Griffey gets injured if they don't trade him, he deserves to get it sooner though.

I suspect this is the sad truth. Griffey's trade value has waned considerably already this year based on his mediocre, seemingly apathetic play. He should be sent on ASAP BEFORE he gets to 600 and before he gets injured again, by which time he won't be worth much more than the Mariners' upper-deck peanut vendor.

Poor Griffey. He should be the homerun king. :( He didn't juice though!

Keep this guy around! At least until 600 plus a few.

reds can't afford to keep their outfield old and slow. plus they aren't losing much offense with him gone since jay bruce can hit

They should try the Cubs....they have been in the acquiring mode for aging, past their prime CFs

Report Offensive Comment

trade him while he still has name.. suprised he still does

Griffey can still hit. He'll help someone. The Reds could take a couple of prospects for him, and open up a spot for Bruce all in one move.

If I was Griffey I would "wish" a trade to a REAL contender !!!

Excuse me, may I a..s..s.. you a question?

Trade Jr. to a playoff team and not the Mariners. They are going nowheresvile this season and for many to come until they rid themselves of overpriced FAs who can't even hit their weight.

Trade Griffey for 20 more feet of outfield at GABP

Lets face it, the only "HUSTLING" Griffey and Dunn have done in the last 3 years has been on "THE PAYROLL"! Time after time we see these two overpaid underacheivers not even give the fans the courtesy of running out a ground ball! And too make things worse the last 3 so-called "MANAGERS" haven't had the guts to adress the issue infront of the team. These two "BUMS" between them are making $20,833.33 apiece per at-bat! ($25,000,000 divided by 600 AB divided by 2 players) Yet, the Reds "STILL" insist they're leaders. Which leads one to ask with two corner outfielders who don't hustle and can't throw, just exactly where are they leading us ?
