Winslow sending Browns message?
Posted: Friday May 16, 2008 07:16AM ET
Kellen Winslow wouldn't be practicing anyway, but his absence from the Cleveland Browns' organized team activities this week is notable. Unlike minicamps, the three weeks of organized team activities (OTAs) are not mandatory. However, players usually report so they can take part in conditioning drills and team meetings or rehab injuries. Star tight end Winslow underwent offseason knee surgery. He also has made it clear he wants the Browns to rework his contract. Winslow, who missed most of his first two seasons in the league with injuries, has three years left on a contract the Browns restructured after he missed an entire year following a motorcycle accident.

Does he wan the Browns to rework it because he feels he is receiving too much money considering his injury prone career?

Report Offensive CommentI must have missed when he reworked his contract lower after he crashed his motorcycle and did not play for a year plus also not even up to full speed after.
Anyone have that copy please send it to me

Report Offensive CommentWhat a waste. It's ok for them to keep your stupid **** on the team when you hurt yourself because you can't handle a motorcycle. Nice of him to repay the favor for asking for more money when he hasn't even earned the money he's been paid already. A living legend... in his own mind.

Report Offensive Commentyou guys are completely wrong about winslow. he may have been an idiot in his youth but he has matured into an onfield star and locker room leader. without winslow we wouldnt have been anywhere close to what we were last year. they restrutured his contract due to his injuries and now that he is a PRO BOWL TIGHT END all he wants is his old contract back. there won't be anymore problems with kellen and if the browns what to keep this unit tight they give him what he deserves.

They gave him what he deserves....a spot on the roster and a paycheck while he was being an IDIOT during the offseason. What happened to players actually playing under the contract they signed? If he has a bad year I'm assuming he'll be glad to give some of his money back? I don't think so. It just irritates me that these players make so much as it is and want more.

Report Offensive Commenthe wants to make as much as the any other player at his skill level. he made some mistakes and paid for them. he was docked huge amounts of money because he made some poor desicions. he righted what was wrong and is now back on track with his role and expectations as a professional football player. in fact i would even say that he has gone far beyond what is expected of him considering he plays injured half the time and risks career ending injury because of his dedication to the team. they should get him back on track contractually as well.

Report Offensive CommentDon't do it Browns,,,make the boy honor his previous deal as he has
not been fair to your organization.

Report Offensive Commentthis is why i've been hesitant to like him as a player even though I'm a huge browns fan. We keep the guy after he f***s up and gets into a season ending motorcycle crash, we don't take any contract money for him even though he rendered himself completely useless except for hurting the cap. And now he won't even honor the contract after the organization stuck their neck out for him.
He needs to get his head out of his **** and realize he could be a lot poorer right now if the Browns had decided to take his bonus away and recoup some of his contract after his little accident and subsequent knee injury.

Report Offensive CommentI hope he holds out so the Bengals' D doesn't have to deal with him.
He's pretty good at stretching the middle and forcing mismatches, and can line up outside. I'd love to have him, but he's got some a little baggage. But, like I said, I'd love to have him...

Report Offensive CommentHe sat on the bench for 2 years getting paid and wants to rework his contract??? Does he want to give back the cash for those 2 seasons?? Pro athletes really need to get a grip on reality. You're supposed to be playing ball because you love it. If you're only interested in money, you should have become a..............Hmmmm....
Trying to think of an occupation that pays more than pro athlete...
