Why Norman's back on tour

Posted: Friday May 16, 2008 08:02AM ET

There's good news for Greg Norman fans -- he's back. In fact, he's back in a number of capacities: as a competitive golfer on the PGA TOUR and Champions Tour; as The President's Cup captain for the International team in 2009; and as a golf course designer with another challenging test for PGA TOUR players at the now two-year-old Mayakoba Golf Classic at Riviera Maya. His 22-year-old son plays many amateur golf events in South Florida, so Greg begun working with him on honing various aspects of his game. They spent hours at the range together and sparred in rounds of golf. Dad still won't let his son beat him -- Gregory has to earn a win against his World-Golf-Hall-of-Fame father. As Gregory got better and closer to beating him, Greg felt the old competitive juices flowing again. Being a teacher has also made him a student of the game again.

You know, an 80 doesn't tally well for a Hall of Famer who would be a "teacher" ... He should do a bit of practice tee work himself before coming back to the "real thing". Go ahead, Greg, and wish - but the Senior Tour is just about your speed these days ... You can't play on the back tees anymore. Old memories die hard. Ask around. Maybe you can give Hale Irwin some competition - I doubt it.

he just likes to keep his face out there for all his other biz. great biz man choke artist of all time in golf!! If greg norman had half the balls of hale irwin he would of won 8-10 majors. You think a killer instinct player like chris everett would be embarrssed to be seen with this guy. Maybe she blew all her money.

I wish I could choke myself into second place every week in every athletic undertaking I participate in, winning millions in the process. Anyone who calls Norman a choker is an idiot, which means you've got plenty of company, g-wacko. By the way, how's your golf score? You finish in the top 3 of every foursome you play in every week? How about a field of dozens? Where would you finish?

Personally, I admire his nuts in going for it in the Masters when Faldo won. He played with the heart of a champion and wanted to finish it out giving it his all instead of playing it cutesy safe.

Give the guy credit. He was a monster in this game week in and week out and he was ALWAYS in the money. How many guys won a couple of major titles but disappeared for weeks on end? Uh, all of them, oh, yeah, except Greg. Get some perspective.

He might have been the greatest ball striker of all time. But that masters choke againest Faldo was disgusting. When you opponent hugs you on the 18th green it is pretty sad. I can beat 3 guys in my foresome but we stink. Major championships are how your judged. Hell Scott Hoch might have won as much money as Norman. He really went for it in that masters, right in the water 0n 16.

golfwacko you are appropriately named.

Trying going up against the most intimidating golfer of his day (Faldo) and see how you fair. Stupid.

And, then go back a watch the video again and you'll see that Norman didn't play all that badly.
