Timonen possible for Game 5
Posted: Friday May 16, 2008 07:11AM ET
After the Flyers finally broke through for their first victory of the Eastern Conference finals last night, they got some good news that gave them hope of extending the best-of-seven series a little bit longer. Kimmo Timonen, their top defenseman, may have a chance to play in Game 5 on Sunday. "I'm going to skate tomorrow," Timonen, who has been out for the entire series with a blood clot in his left ankle, said.

Excellent, too bad they had to miss anytime, but doubt it would have made a difference.

He is the flyers best defense man and one the better ones in the league. Combined with the fact that we also lost Coburn (2nd best defense man on the team) this could've had a huge difference in the series. AND with either one in the lineup we wouldn't have to see downie anymore

Report Offensive CommentAt least it will eliminate one of the many excuses of the flyers. Bring him on, this series over Sunday!

It was never an excuse. I was simply stating the fact that Kimmo would of been a huge asset for the flyers. He is a great d man. Don;t worry though we'll still be discussing this series come monday morning

Report Offensive CommentHis 6 assists in 12 games has me shaking in my boots. Wasn't he playing when he Pens won 7-1 and 4-2 late in the regular season? He's a good player, I'll give you that, but he is not a great player. The Pens will close this one out in 5 just like they did against the Rangers. Hell, they almost came back and tied it up after playing a horrible first 2 periods.

Report Offensive CommentTimonen needs to be smart and play only if it is safe...and when one is on blood thinners, hockey is not safe. I work in a hospital and he faces many significant issues including: losing a lot of blood from a cut, cutting off blood flow and circulation to his foot and possibly losing it, internal bleeding from an undetected bruise or pulminory embolism. Remember, this is a sport...lets hope he makes the right decision.
Pens in 5!

kimmo really needs to be careful and this injury. As much as I would love to see him back on the ice, there is no way you messa round with this. To dangerous
Male nurses are in fact massive tools

Report Offensive CommentOf course there is going to be a difference when a Team is missing their 1 & 2 defencemen in a playoff series.
Look at the Pens last night when they were missing Crosby and Malkin.
Phlyfan is right though...Male nurses are tools.

Report Offensive CommentYou know, I'd hate to be one of the other flyer defencemen b/c with the way you all are talking about KT and BC, they must think they really suck and are not appreciated at all.

700 Level Lifer is thanking the keyboard gods at this very moment he didn't make a Typo in that statement... and write "have".

I think the Flyers would hate to have you as a D-man too Letsgopens. So that pretty much makes it unanimous.
They NYI had the most man games missed last season though...Perhaps they would be interested in "EXPANDING their medical STAFF". Give em a call... 1-800-MALETOOLS

Report Offensive CommentKimo is a beast but let's face it, at this point it is a non-factor. Even if he plays the best game of his life he can't be out there with Malkin and Crosby at the same time unless he puts up like 45 minutes a game for the rest of the series. Philadelphia... the young Cinderella story... is finished. At least I hope for their sake. Detroit would whoop that @** in the finals anyway.

Report Offensive CommentLosing your #1 and #2 d-men will surely kill any franchise thats in the play-offs. Thats just too much to survive. How would the Wings fare if Lidstrom and Rafalski went down to injury? The Stars would be killing them 3-1 too. Its not an excuse that the Flyers are injured, its a fact.
