Ricky expected Parcells cut

Even running back Ricky Williams was surprised that Dolphins Vice President of Football Operations Bill Parcells didn't cut him when he took over the team in December, because in his opening speech to the team he stressed having players with character, rather than characters. "[Parcells] was describing the kind of player he wanted," Williams told the Austin (Texas) American-Statesman in Thursday's editions. "Honestly, I had doubts if I was going to be that type of player."

Parcells likes players with talent and plays hard. I guess Ricky has both

I think Ricky finally recognized that he had a problem and if he wanted to stay on the team he had to 'name it, claim it, frame it and change it'. Give the guy a break. He may have finally become a grown up and put away childish things.

Ricky has character. His character is simply the relaxed sort.

Ricky is a great RB, not good but great! He also has young legs! I've had him on my fantasy football team for awhile and he has been a constant producer. Go RICKY

Parcells puts these teams back to respectability. I just hope he plans on staying with the Dolphins longer than 3 seasons.

As a kid who watched Ricky Williams rip off some huge runs while he was at Patrick Henry High in San Diego, I'm cheering hard for him to stay clean and return to form.

Ricky has so much God-given talent, that he was able to perform at a high level with a lackadaisical attitude about football. It will be scary to see when he actually puts his mind to working hard and becoming a true football player.

Jokes on you Ricky. Parcells is media savvy - more press when he cuts you in August !!!

Keep working hard and keep yourself dedicated, and you will have nothing to worry about Ricky. I think that if you could get back to your 1800 yard rushing form you will start on that team!

Think Ricky is actually going to read that?

May 17, 2008  06:37 PM ET

In other words, you're admitting you're a character?

sounds like he could not get ahold of dr feelgood and came down from being stoned and read the news one day instead of using it for rolling paper.
