Why Burke may bolt from Ducks
Posted: Saturday May 17, 2008 07:28AM ET
In a development that may stoke debate about Anaheim Ducks general manager Brian Burke's future with the club, team owner Henry Samueli has been accused of securities fraud and could soon face criminal charges. If criminal charges do follow, it's possible that Burke might try to scuttle his recent contract extension talks with the Ducks, according to NHL insiders. He is under contract through next season. The NHL said in a statement that the civil case ``has no impact on Henry's status as an NHL owner or on his ownership of the Ducks.

Burke is a lawyer.
I'm guessing here that the 5 million a year that Toronto has out there is looking better and better.
Not that some of the MLSE board shouldn't be accused of being fraud artist's in their own right...LOL...They really have no criminal charges pending.
Burke is going to pack his pucks and say goodbye to the Ducks.

Report Offensive CommentThey should make Burke the President of Toronto. Then he can select his own GM and they can go from there. Simple as that.

Report Offensive CommentThe Leafs have to do something..., apparently they wanted a President before the draft and with a month left? What are they doing..., interviewing Nonis for GM! I think Burke goes..., he can't do anything else in Anaheim and lives for challenges! And in Leafland..., man what a challenge!
