Damon most tradeable Yankee?

Should the Yankees fall deeper into the hole they've created for themselves this season, dealing off players would certainly be an option. Many of their stars have no-trade clauses, but Johnny Damon's contract allows the Yankees to deal him to 12 teams, a list selected by Damon himself.

We do not need him in Boston...

May 31, 2007  09:32 AM ET

Haha. This story might even be more useless than A-Rod and his wife. Who wants this guy at $12 m per? Nobody! You couldnt trade him for a bag of baseballs and A-Rod's wife. Ok..well...maybe you could make that deal. I would.

"We do not need him in Boston..."

Hehehe yeah Breakfast Cereal worked out GREAT for the Sox! He hasn't been ANY good since he left Cleveland!

May 31, 2007  11:10 AM ET

coco has been awesome in the field and helped the sox to the best record in baseball. That counts for something... i think....

May 31, 2007  11:12 AM ET

It totally does.

The Red Sox have the 3rd best offense WITH Coco not hitting. They can afford his lack of production at the plate when he's playing incredible defense.

May 31, 2007  11:20 AM ET

We still don't need him...

Can you spell Jacoby Ellsbury...

Johny has no arm, he can't even reach the cutoff

May 31, 2007  11:23 AM ET

I see a few teams (Both LA teams,Cubbies,Mets?) That would have interest in a player like Damon. When he's on hes a very good hitter and solid fielder. If the angels keep tearing it up then i can seriously see damon to the angels for a good prospect, a player who could start, and a pitcher.

May 31, 2007  12:29 PM ET

Yankees won't trade him. This is a useless story.

May 31, 2007  12:49 PM ET

Hey, now, never say the Red Sox couldn't have any use for John. After all, equipment managers and latrine swabbers don't just magically appear out of nowhere.

May 31, 2007  01:32 PM ET

Yeah adams300... you defend your life's work!

May 31, 2007  01:35 PM ET

Air Apparent ... Mets have Carlos Beltran in center field. Why would they want Damon? Solid fielder? Are you joking?

May 31, 2007  01:37 PM ET

I'd love to see the list of the 12 teams he'd play for

May 31, 2007  01:40 PM ET

Milawaukee would be a great deal for Damon with a first place team.

May 31, 2007  01:43 PM ET

I can't see a legit contender going for Damon. Maybe a team that's grasping for a wild card spot. He's definitely on the back 9 of his career with his best days behind him. Can't see the Yanks getting much for him with that kind of salary. They might move him, but I'm sure whoever they get for him will be in AA or AAA for a while.

May 31, 2007  02:00 PM ET

They don't want to move him. Good thing noone wants him...!?!

May 31, 2007  02:06 PM ET

Agreed - No one will take Damon. But we can dream, can't we ?

May 31, 2007  02:18 PM ET

Damon is a great player - we can all agree on that (this is comign from a lifelong BoSox fan. But Boston doesn't need the guy. Despite some of the blogs on this page, Coco Crisp has improved this season; his defense is phenomenal, and his batting is improving. The Yankees need to do something quick if they want to have any chance at a post season berth.

May 31, 2007  02:33 PM ET

The White Sox. Just watch.

May 31, 2007  02:38 PM ET

He aint Going Nowhere....

May 31, 2007  02:44 PM ET

Brian "Steinbrenner's Marionette" Cashman does not have the guts or smarts to make a trade where he might have to give something up to try and help his team. He makes salary dump trades based on other teams desire to rid themselves of expensive contracts which is basically a free agent signing with money paid out and some crap players thrown in to smokescreen it as a trade.
