The Bulls believe Avery Johnson is not interested in becoming their next head coach and the team has no plans to further pursue him. Johnson said on Thursday that he had spoken to the Bulls last week, but the former Dallas Mavericks coach indicated his options included taking time off.

It's Not!

What other job is out there?

Report Offensive Comment

Assistant under Pop?

Report Offensive Comment

I could see that

Report Offensive Comment

I think he should have taken it. The Bulls have an opportunity to get a good player in the draft this year and have will have a pretty decent team in the East.

Taking time off was said to be an OPTION.. Chicago will lose again when Avery accepts another job, then they'll say they were misled. Why not ask, as opposed to assuming he isn't interested?

unless ur gonna bring the G.O.A.T of basketball back Michael Jordon they suck!

I just love seeing the demise of this team. Before last season, everyone was picking the Bulls to be the team of the East and that they would be stupid to give up a few mediocre players for Kobe Bryant. Now Kobe is MVP for this year's Champions and their prize possession, Luol Deng is at home making sure his Myspace page is well-maintained.

I knew Avery was smart.

I bet the bulls are less interested in this guy than he is in them. He is another Herm Edwards, does all the emotional BS but gets out-coached all the time. Don Nelson and Pat Riley are still laughing theis **** off. Cuban not the sharpest owner in the drawer, dumps Nash and ends up with the classic under-achiever Jason Kidd. He would be a good hire for the LA Clankers.

Avery wants to stay in Texas. Maybe Sports_Fan_19 has the right idea tthat he would be the next successor to POP.

Report Offensive Comment

Im not interested in that job either...

Something about AJ that doesn't spell confidence. This is even though he won 60 game seasons with the Mavs. Seems like he's timid in the playoffs; but it's the Bulls, they've got better pieces than the Knicks.

everybody has better pieces than the knicks

Who the **** cares about Avery? His team imploded and he got the axe. Has anyone thought that perhaps he is not coaching material? Good players rarely become good coaches.

Report Offensive Comment

da' bulls are just window shopping and like a used car buyer they are just kicking the tires and not ready to buy just yet....so go away and let the serious shoppers ....shop okay..!!

Report Offensive Comment

Yes, player rarely become good coaches and it is a good idea to take the time off. True his team did implode and he admitted to losing the team, but.....

....remember what happened to Doc Rivers and Byron Scott in their first go round as head coach. Avery did deservedly win coach of the year, ya know!

Keep in mind....Pop's current assistant coach is being eyed for (Suns I think)...and Pop will be retiring in a few years when Timmy retires (sniffle). Maybe SA?

Report Offensive Comment

avery will take a nice long vacation and collect "unemployment" of millions from cuban. what a way to stick it to your former boss.
