Maybe this will be the year that Patrick Ewing finally returns to New York. Mike D'Antoni said Thursday that he would consider hiring the Knicks' Hall of Fame center as one of his assistant coaches. "I know what he did in New York and I know that he's done a good job since he left," D'Antoni said. "He will definitely be considered."

Yao and Howard definately took positive steps forward under Patricks watch-
so it couldn't hurt.....

But please dump Herb.....nice guy, but the WHOLE Isiah regime must be PURGED. (Curry REGRESSED under Herb's watch)

Unless he's hired as a head coach somewhere else, bring in Mark Jackson as an assistant as well.

It gives the fans something to cheer about

That was Curry's fault not Williams.

Doesn't matter, next time Knicks will when a Championship may be sometimes after we are all dead

Ewing would be a good addition to the Knicks, wont help or hurt them but hell, why not?

I would love nothing more than to see Patrick back in NY. Its where he belongs.

I think P Ewing is a great inspiration and a great motivator especially to the knicks but they should also bring jackson, oakley, mason and that great guard starks and have them start for 1/2 the season and see if the starting five finally learn something. I love the knicks and i hate to see them struggle like this. Good luck but lets start by bringing one good experienced leader to this team trade whoever and get one two (fisher, IQ Players and a bunch of individual ball hogs

Ewing is a good coach for the big men (Randolph and Curry definitely need it) not to mention that Randolph Morris could have a future if he was under the right wing. It also doesn't hurt to show a little loyalty by bringing back one of the old guard...doesn't quite make up for not hiring Mark Jackson but it's a good gesture.

about damn time..ewing never gave nw york the title but he played his best years as a knick..he should help curry or an other big man that the knicks have

Ewing has a real championship linneage. I remember when they signed him he was going to lead them to the promised land. Big hat, no cattle as they say in Texas (houston)

With this roster it won't matter who he brings in, the results will be the same.

May 17, 2008  07:12 PM ET

That would be great! I think Herb needs to go too, nice guy but the niceness is helping, honestly. What a great idea and Ewing would love to come back home. He should have never been traded in the first place! Nice move by D'Antoni if he were to make that happen!

as an assitant coach .. WE COULD USE HIM AS OUR CENTER .. CURRY is the biggest waste of 6'11 ive ever seen .. ewing could still do a better job .. i wouldnt mind either thoughh we need some new life in the NEW YORK KNICKS. give it a shot
