Brady gives Pats linemen new cars

Some quarterbacks will take their offensive linemen out for a steak dinner at the end of the season to thank them for their protection. Others might gift their offensive line with Rolex watches. That is, if they're lucky. As Dan Koppen, Logan Mankins and Stephen Neal found out last night, he tends to operate on a much grander scale than most quarterbacks. Dinner? Fancy watch? Brady presented the three offensive linemen who came to his event with an Audi Q7 SUV to kick off the Audi Best Buddies Challenge: Hyannis Port.

He was going to give them two Audi Q7 SUV's,but they kinda let him down at the Super Bowl.

Classy... B-)

Anyone want to bet that someone on this post is going to give Brady crap about this? Someone is going to twist this into something bad instead of it being a nice jesture from Brady to his front line... just watch and see how accurate my prediction is... some people are just pathetic... they hate and are so blinded by it that that they can't see the forest for the trees... I loathe the Yankees, but if Jeter did this or if Manning (take your pick which) did the same thing I would make positive comments about them... let's see how many Pats haters come out and admit that this was a positive thing...

Any bets?

You know that probably makes the linemen feel like Brady thinks they can't afford stuff like that....but they will still take it

May 17, 2008  08:19 AM ET

Do they get to bang Giselle too?

Those guys can afford those cars, are you kidding me? all of those guys are well paid, and can afford a $50,000 vehicle, EASY! And Tommy knows that, and they know he knows it. But a really generous gesture from a grateful QB, I like it.

May 17, 2008  08:33 AM ET

Agreed...nothing bad about this...very cool gesture from Tom Brady to these players. These guys are literally watching your back, and keeping you out of the hospital.

Only to say he should have been more ecologically aware and bought them Honda's instead. That would have been funny seeing someone that size try to squeeze into a Rav 4.

Remember when Marino bought his linemen gloves? And they only got those because he got them free because he was a spokesman. Good on you Tom. Take care of these guys.

buford | 05/17/08, 08:19 AM

May 17, 2008  09:17 AM ET

He gave them the wheels under one condition......they have to drive them to Hawaii and run over Matt Walsh.

May 17, 2008  09:18 AM ET

hmm so hes the honorary chairman of an event sponsored by AUDI, and he gave only 3 of his 5 linemen free AUDI'S. someone wanna bet me that tom terrific didnt pay sticker price on those cars

May 17, 2008  09:18 AM ET

..and no cheating by trying to get them on a plane.

I'm a Patriot fan and I like Tom Brady but, did any of you read the last sentence in the article? He didn't suddenly decide to buy his linemen Audi SUV's. He did it to kick off the Best Buddies Challenge and those linemen are his best buddies. Besides, he probably got a good deal from the company.

And those Isotoner gloves Marino gave to his linemen were promotional gifts he shared with them. Truth in advertising, at least back then, an celebrity advertising a product actually had to use it. Remember Joe Namath's ads for Leggs Pantyhose? Yup, had to use them or be in violation.

I thought of Oprah when I read this
