Dunn doesn't want bit role
Posted: Sunday May 18, 2008 10:18AM ET
As Warrick Dunn came off the field at the Bucs' new training facility after an optional workout last week, it was clear that one important thing hasn't changed. He still wants to play and produce, and he has an unmistakable message for anyone who thinks the Bucs brought him here to be a spare part. "I would never consider myself a third-down back. It's not my mentality. I don't play the game that way," he said. "I don't think Coach Jon Gruden brought me here just to play on third down. He believes in me, and I just have to go out and prove it." He will get his chance.

Nobody wants a bit role. Dunn's a pro, and will do his job.

Report Offensive Commenthes a great player but for me Graham is the first running back of the NFL and the most improved last player last season by far. Graham played like Cadillac first season gets hit by 3 players and keeps going if Warrick can do that then give him the ball

Report Offensive CommentWhat about Earnest Graham...?
I think he pretty much earned a starting role after last season.

Report Offensive Commentyeah who needed him in Atlanta.. for him to run the way he did.. behind that joke of a line.. and they think he's done?? Warrick Dunn was the one guy the Falc's got rid of that was total BS.. HE was the one guy trying to keep his team together during the whole Mike Vick, Bobby SUWEEEE crap last year.
Good luck WD.. hope u run well and healthy..

Report Offensive CommentThis will be Dunn's last year. He won't like is 2nd place role behind Graham. Unless Graham goes down with an injury he will be the redzone and main runner in that offense. Dunn will be the 3rd down back. Not to mention they still have Cadillac. Not sure how effective he will be but he will also get the shot before Dunn cause he makes more.
I think Dunn spends the year frustrated and will retire at the end. He is a classy guy so he won't do anything to show it but I think he realizes after this year that its over for him.

Report Offensive CommentWarrick Dunn has always gone above and beyond what was asked of him. I have no doubt that he will start at least 3 games next season.

Report Offensive CommentDunn will be a good fit here. Even if he doesn't like his role, you won't hear a peep from him. Class act all of the way.

Report Offensive CommentWell im afraid thats all your going to get Warrick, with Graham and Cadillac being rotated in the backfield. He is a class act however, and im looking forward to seeing him back at the Bucs next year.
