Jake Peavy was scratched from Monday night's scheduled start against the Cardinals and will have an MRI examination Monday to determine what is causing what he termed "discomfort" in his right elbow. Peavy, who missed five starts in 2004 with an inflammation in the flexor mass of his elbow and forearm, admitted to being "concerned" about what he is feeling in his elbow and said he could be a candidate for the disabled list. "It's not normal soreness, which is why we're going to have it looked at," Peavy said. Peavy said he feels discomfort on every pitch.

Well its not like the Padres are really playing well anyway, but my fantasy team is!!

So are there any high-caliber can't-miss prospects entering the June 2009 draft? Nevermind he'll probably ask for a lot of money and the Padres will instead take the local kid on nobody's radar who professes a desire to play for the hometown team. Probably a shortstop who turns out to be a light-hitter, gets arrested, and then is converted to a pitcher.

He's maybe picked up an infection from the pine tar.....

There was no hope here anyways..... the Padres are the worst team in baseball right now..... even a healthy Peavy is just a cherry on top of a turd sundae.....

this isn't going to affect the padre too much since they aren't going to get better production offensively

And my fantasy team takes another kick to the seeds.

Ace has NEVER had any luck with his fantasy teams. You know what they say, lucky in prokbellies, unlucky in fantasy leagues.

And the season just gets worse for the Pads......

As the only vocal Padre fan here ( I think on all of fannation) let me address some of the comments here as I stillhope this is all a nightmare and it's really March 31 in my sleep...

Sir Robin (as himself) | 05/19/08, 10:44 AM - so true so true Sir Robin.

Padres can kiss whatever 2008 hopes they had goodbye if he's out for long.

Field Marshall Sunny Day | 05/19/08 - wow Field Marshall, so you thought there were hopes for the Padres even before this? You're more optimistic than me.

Go Padres!?!?!

I attended 34 games last year; none as yet this year & I don't expect that to change. Pudsucs will have no chance until they get a serious owner; not a buffoon like Moores who is only concerned with making cash. Don't know what is the bigger joke, the team or the owner.

Who's next, Ryan Klesco?

At this point, sadly, Klesko might be an upgrade. Let's not give the front office any ideas though Loachdriver...
