Knicks' high praise for Derrick Rose

Posted: Tuesday May 20, 2008 08:23AM ET

Mike D'Antoni has told confidants he thinks Rose can be the next Steve Nash. And he told The Post that Rose is "Jason Kidd with a shot." D'Antoni is content to go with Stephon Marbury as his starting point guard for one season, but that changes if Rose becomes a Knick. The Knicks are reluctant to trade Marbury to ruin their future cap situation, but a buyout is possible.

I doubt that "content" is an acurate description.........

i'm gonna laugh when goldenstate a near 50 win team wins the lottery.

I have no idea why the media has this love affair with Marbury. Marbury is being treated like he is important, and he is not. However at least the story also talks about the lottery tonight.

It is much harder to trade in the NBA today. I believe a team should draft for need. The biggest need is not a PG and likely Rose will likely not be available by the time the Knicks pick.

The Knicks won't trade Stephon. They should buy him out instead of trading him for more long term crap.

Derrick Rose ain't happening. The only way the Knicks have a shot at him is if they either win the lottery or get the 2nd pick and the team with the 1st pick takes Beasley.

How hard is it to trade in today's NBA, liontut? We have seen Shaquille O'Neal, Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen, Allen Iverson and Stephon Marbury (yuck!) all players with large contracts moved.

It's easy to make deals. It's hard to make good deals. We can ask Isiah about that.

About RIVERS, LAKES, CHAMPIONS, and FAKES.
Let me tell you the story of the man called "Rivers", who runs a small basketball team in Boston. Those of you familiar with Beantown know that there is no real river there, only a muddy stream called the "Charles". In the meantime, a true river, the Rio Grande, runs along the Southern border of Texas, where a true championship caliber team resides in the town of San Antonio.
Then there is the team named after the "Lakes", residing in the superficial town of Los Angeles. Here again, there are no real lakes with fresh water, just the salt-water of the ocean. Instead, the real lake, Lake Michigan, is bordered by its namesake, where the city of Detroit hosts another true basketball team.
So, as we head into the Conference Finals, ladies and gentlemen, remember which teams really live near the river and lakes, and which other teams are just chopped liver and fakes.

At the end of the day, what the Knicks really need is to abandon the Derrick Rose sweepstakes and draft Brook Lopez. It won't matter who the point guard is if they plan to keep Curry as their post presence.

What we have seen are sweetheart deals, salary dumps and stars demanding trades. With trades having to have matching money, everyone in basketball talks about how the landscape has changed for trading.

Replace GSW with Portland and you have arguably one of the scariest NBA lineups in NBA history.

I know Jay-L hasn't answered yet, but I'm thinking its Laker fans in general. Well maybe not ALL of them, but I'd say 75 - 80% of them. It may be 90% now that there are a few less teams left. Lets see, I know there are a few Suns fans that have climbed abord the Laker bandwagon. Mavs fans too, but I bet there are a few Hornet fans waking up today putting on their purple and gold Mardi Gras beads and pretending they were Laker fans all along. That seems to be the Faker fan base.

As far as Rose goes, it doesn't seem likely. The Knicks should concentrate on Bayless, or Jordan. I'm not a big Brook Lopez fan but I do like the Nevada center McGee. I don't like him at 5th overall but if Walsh can acquire a later lottery pick then he should go after him.

Liontut: You and I both know that isn't true. You talk about how Isiah "rebuilt" the Knicks. Were all those deals sweetheart deals? They might have been salary dumps but those damn sure weren't sweetheart deals.

Trading can happen in the NBA. For some reason I believe Donnie Walsh is going to prove that.

What the hell is Jay-L talking about? The Lakers moved to LA from Minnesota where they were named the Lakers after the state with 10,000 Lakes.

What, should the Jazz change their name because they went from New Orleans to Utah? It's one thing to brag about your team, but at least make some **** sense when you do it.
