The Nets have been talking around the league and one of the teams they will revisit is Denver, where Carmelo Anthony is available. League sources insist the Nuggets are making Anthony available for the right price. The Nets have spoken to Denver - Nets GM Kiki Vandeweghe drafted Anthony and reshaped the Nuggets roster when he was there...One proposal contained "a lot of pieces" including the Nets' pick, Richard Jefferson and Marcus Williams for Anthony and Marcus Camby. One source stressed nothing is imminent and talks are still in the infancy stage.

RJ and Williams would be nice and that will give Denver a PG

why pick on 'Melo when all they have to do is surgically remove the Cancer, more popularly known as No-defense George Karl.

whatever the trade details might be, neither team would become a winning combo. Fact remains that most money for both teams are locked up on proven losers. carter and Anthony. Tough Luck!

I don't understand the reasoning for the trade.

Thank You!

The Nuggets are shopping Anthony, but planning to keep Iverson?

Yeah, that's a surefire formula for mediocrity. If they want to be players in the Western Conference - for the NBA title - shop both of these bums for two quality front-line players and begin the process of building a legitimate contending team.

two second level teams trading players, boy those executives realy earn their 6 figure salaries on this one. next they'll give players away like memphis.

All it takes is the right combination of players to click to go from worst to first. Just ask New Orleans. The problem is Denver's system sucks. Blaming Melo for G. Karl's poor planning is a mistake. Fire Karl and Hire Avery Johnson and now we have a formula for success.

May 20, 2008  08:58 AM ET

Carmelo plays no defense. Whatever team gets him should know that. The Nuggets have enough offense, but lack the desire to play defense. I don't want to blame George Karl but....it's George Karl's fault.

May 20, 2008  09:11 AM ET

Karl did pretty well with two all stars named Kemp and Payton. He hasn't changed his system. it is easier to fire the coach than players, so this does not make sence

May 20, 2008  09:13 AM ET

It about darn time...the guy's a great player but he's too immature and is NOT a leader by any means. He needs to be a team's 2nd or 3rd option...not the leading man.

May 20, 2008  09:14 AM ET

The Nuggets are just stupid enough to do something like this. For some reason these idiots out here have been Melo haters since he got here. If he leaves they better be happy with a team that sucks.....again.

May 20, 2008  09:15 AM ET

Karl did do well in Seattle. But the league is still what have you done for me lately. With all that talent (A.I., Melo, Camby, K-Mart) they should not get swept in the playoffs. I'm sorry. Something needs to change.

May 20, 2008  09:24 AM ET

problem is you have two volume shooters who don't really play defense. they are just like portland when they had sheed and bonzi and randolph and those guys. they did not take the game seriously and it showed. who is the leader on that team? who is their Duncan, Kobe, Nash, Le Bron, KG? they don't have one. they need to get one.

May 20, 2008  09:39 AM ET

The problem is, you just can't get a Duncan, Kobe, Nash, etc. It's not that easy. They have talent on that roster, but someone needs to stress to Melo he needs to play defense. If he was able to guard the other teams best perimeter player, and Camby handled the inside, they would be in a good position.

this article is from the new york post. don't believe everything you read.

May 20, 2008  09:44 AM ET

Everyone says Melo doesn't play D...there are really only a handful of players that play D in the league...the ones that make the all D team each year...the majority of the leagues coaches don't even stress D...you can count the ones that do on one hand...Defense is something that has to be TAUGHT moreso than offense...get coaches that stress D the problem may solve itself...but with alot of players stuck in their ways you never know

May 20, 2008  09:47 AM ET

denver needs an old vet who will put his foot in melo's butt when he loafs on th defense side. hell pull oakley out of retirement. they need a definate leader.

May 20, 2008  09:54 AM ET

There's a difference between playing good defense, and at least showing an effort to play defense. Melo does neither. With his size, he should at least try.

Denver can do better then the New Jersey package in my opinion.
