Milwaukee Bucks coach Scott Skiles didn't hesitate to pursue Kelvin Sampson as an assistant coach, despite the former Indiana University coach's ongoing troubles with the NCAA. Sampson was formally introduced as a member of the Bucks' staff Monday at the team's Cousins Center training facility, and he said he could not comment on the NCAA's charges that he violated sanctions against him regarding recruiting phone calls.

Maybe he can get in Charles Barkley's Fav Five and talk all he wants

May 20, 2008  08:40 AM ET

Wow, Sampson doesn't want to talk??? Too bad for him he didn't take that stance with recruits a little more often..........

Sampson clearly is a dirtbag......
but he has won alot in college & probably is actually good coach underneath all the filth......NBA is a perfect place for him- no recruiting

I see no reason his NCAA issues should mean anything to the NBA folks. At least as near as I can tell, the NBA has no rule against calling people.

Good riddance. Get out of college Basketball

May 20, 2008  12:41 PM ET

He'll be back in college basketball. He just needs to get away and try to rehab his image. Give it 2 or 3 years, he'll be back.

he is going to be in charge of all of the illegal phone calls.

Sampson is a scrotum.

May 20, 2008  05:30 PM ET

maybe he'll become a head choach

May 20, 2008  05:35 PM ET

Sampson's taking the Neuheisel approach..... if he lays low in the pros and some team gets desperate enough for a winning program.... and nobody else wants the job.....(think UCLA football scenario).... then Sampson will be back in within 3-5 years....

May 20, 2008  06:30 PM ET

Samson has coached his last game in the NCAA and will sign off on being banned for life. He's a cheater who has dragged down the integrity of every program he seems to touch.
He needs kept away from other schools as he has proven he cannot be trusted.

Kelvin Sampson look like my cousin Billy. Hi Billy!

point spread advisor?

May 21, 2008  12:11 AM ET

Not sure how Sampson's situation compares to Neuheisel's.....Sampson has had the NCAA's attention for a few years now, whereas Neuheisel settled with his former employer for $4.5 million because they wrongfully terminated him. I also don't believe Neuheisel was ever sanctioned by the NCAA for anything. I'm not sure their respective situations are comparable :-)

I really think he needs some tutoring by the Harrick boys !!!

May 21, 2008  01:33 AM ET

assistant coach really means secretary!

He may not be a great coach, but he sure can work the phones!

May 21, 2008  09:09 AM ET

College coaches should not be exempt to sanctions and suspensions in pro leagues for things like they did while on the collegiate level. The NBA should say that Sampson is ineligible to coach for two months or something...otherwise this behavior never stops....they just penalize the institution and the coach's ex-players. What a great justice system we hvae...Nat'l Communists Against Athletes!
